How To Adjust the Spring Tension of Spring Assist Knives



It is a simple procedure using an allen wrench, torx T8, or standard screwdriver depending on the model that you have purchased.

Spring Assist Knives ship in the locked position from the factory to ensure the safe passage of the merchandise.
It is not uncommon to receive Spring Assist Knives that will need to be adjusted.

Do to the fact that people have different tastes adjustments will vary.


To help the end buyer know how to perform maintenance and understand the function this guide will provide the necessary information.

1.   Determine the screwdriver or wrench needed, as stated it will most likely be an allen wrench, Torx T8, or standard flat head screwdriver.
2.  Locate the Pivot Screw - Simply it is the axis point that the knife blade pivots on from the handle.
3.  Loosen to allow more spring action but do not over loosen or the blade will rock in the pivot joint.
4.  Tighten the pivot screw to restrict the spring action limit the rocking in the pivot joint.
5.  You will personally have to find the medium that you feel best suits your desired action and blade security.
6.  Along with either loosening or tightening the Spring Assist Knife it is recommended to lubricate the pivot joint.

Lubrication of the pivot joint and adjusting the pivot screw is normal maintenance of any pocket knife folder.
You can use numerous forms of oil, such as Olive Oil, Vegetable Oil, Cooking Oil, Motor Oil, WD-40, Liquid Teflon, and many more.
