Thanks for looking in my ebay store and guide section. I am writing this guide because of the many different C-scale grading systems I see on ebay. If buying from my ebay store, you will notice that I rarely if ever apply a grade over C-9 to a figure. I grade my items very strictly. I believe when using the C-scale, items should be graded on a 1 - 10 score with a 10 being Mint condition.
I wanted to explain my grading standards because I take pride in the fact that I grade on a traditional C-scale. I see figures being sold on ebay with grades of C9.7 or C9.2. I wonder what it takes for a figures to reach a C-8 grade in this type of C-scale. I don't want to discourage you from buying a figure on ebay with these style of grades, these sellers are fine and just work on a different C-scale standard. I want to make clear that when you shop in my ebay store, you will see C-9's as well as C-8 or C-7 grades. I even have figures graded as low as C-4 or C-5. I want the buyer to get exactly what they hoped for when buying from Jeditoyland.
There are NO vintage figures that will be graded a 10 in my store. They do not exist. Due to 30 years of aging and the fact that the paint appications in the 70's and 80's were very inconsistent, I find it hard to believe any vintage figure is perfect. In fact, you will hardly find anything above a C-9 figure in my store unless it is the best of the best I can find.
I do rarely apply a C-95 grade to a vintage figure. This is usually only seen on the rarer figures that I really look over closely for playwear or factory paint flaws. If I find nothing, I will give a C-95 grade, but not very often. Again, I have NEVER applied a C-10 grade or claimed any vintage figure I have sold was mint. I personally do not like the term mint as it can be misleading. Mint by definition is perfect, flawless. After looking through over 50,000+ loose vintage figures in my life, I have yet to find a mint loose vintage figure.
Vintage grading C-Scale
C-95 - close to mint as possible. No visible paint flaws and tight joint. Unplayed with. I very rarely will give this grade on a figure.
C-9 - near mint with only minor paint rub if any at all. Tight joints.
C-8 - good shape with only a couple minor paint rubs. Nothing major. Tight joints.
C-7 - fair shape with a few paint rubs. Nothing major, but playwear is noticeable. Tight joints.
C-6 or lower would have paint wear and possible loose joints. I take good photos so you can view the paint wear on the figure.
LOOSE MODERN FIGURE GRADING
When grading loose modern figures, I apply a C-9 grade to all figures even though I open them all straight from the original packaging just prior to sending them to a customer. This should show how strict I am when grading figures. These modern figures will be mint unless there is a factory error that I missed.
