Medical ID guide to assist parents & guardians to help their children to wear medical alert IDs .  When buying & purchasing children's medical alert jewelry you want it to stay on them.  Kids medical alert ID bracelets, child medic necklaces and emergency identification tags are very important.  Emergency ID information should be alerted to doctors, paramedics, school teachers, coaches or anybody that might be looking after your children.

Hi my name is Jon and I would like to help with some ideas to help your children to wear medical alert information, and stay on them.  

As I'm sure you know kids like to be important and #1 all the time.  They like awards and recognition, praise and attention.  This should all be applied when introducing their new medical alert jewelry to them.  Kids with an identification tag with their medical information engraved onto it should feel special, after all that's what makes them, not to mention yours.

-----------FIRST IMPRESSION-----------

First impression of their new fashionable medical identification is very important.  It should be introduced as a prize or an award.  As if they just won their new diabetic tag they get to wear.  This can be done in a variety of ways.  As soon as you and your little loved one are aware of the special information that makes them unique you should think of a way to get them to win the medical ID.  I’m sure if you think about it you’ll think of a creative way to do this.   It could be beating a high score on their favorite video game, or winning or scoring in a sporting event.  Maybe they drew you a picture and you wanted to give them an award.  Or even if they sat so patiently with the doctor you decided to get a specially custom engraved necklace or bracelet for them.  

You can surprise them with it and even gift wrap it.  Children love presents, heck I love opening presents.  So after you announced they won a medical alert ID they could possibly help pick it out.  I personally like the surprise, and gift award idea better so that they won’t have the chance to be picky.  

For your very special toddler it may still be good to be creative in presenting it to them.  The younger they start wearing it, the easier it is for them to get used to.  If you're very close to your doctor maybe ask if he would present it to them.   You child may like the attention from the Doc all dressed up in white.  Once you doctor recommends an medical alert ID, make an order for one.  Once you received it in the mail wrap it and ask your doctor to give it to him/her on your next appointment.

Anything to make them feel special and awarded in a creative way will work great.  Putting forth a little more effort in giving it to them will help them want it and keep it.  If you just ordered it and slapped it on them once it came in the mail they may not like it or want it and that is what will make it an issue.

Soon as you've got them wearing their new medical identification make it a habit to include it in their daily apparel.  Have them check that they have it before they go anywhere (like you do for your keys or wallet)  Make it a nightly and morning habit….  ‘Bathroom, Brush Teeth, Medical ID ‘

Tell them how good they look with it and tell them to show other friends and family.  Make them feel important and get good positive attention for it.  It can also be a good idea to get them new ones from time to time to renew that award and gift you've given them before.  

You could even try to take it away from them even to keep the bond strong between them and their medical ID.  If you can get them to ask to wear their medical ID like they ask to play a video game or with toy your good to go.

Encouraging them to wear their ID will help prevent them from taking it off when your not around (which defeats it purpose don’t you think?).

FASHIONABLE MEDICAL ALERT:
When they are older it's a great idea to buy some fashionable medical jewelry .  Fashionable medical alert IDs are fantastic! Not only does your child like something colorful and unique they might even enjoy picking it out and upgrading from their old plain medical ID.  The ID needs to stay effective with the medical alert symbol clear and easy to see, yet it also needs to stay as original and unique as your child already is.  I really believe this to be very important and a very effective way to keep your child safe and wearing their ID.  Colorful medical IDs show style to the point were ‘’You want one period, and oh you want the medical info engraved on it too”.  Fashionable medical jewelry should feel as though your not buying it just for the important life saving factor.  You also want it because it looks cool.  Unique medical alert IDs are a great tool and really appeal to everyone.  



In addition to their already fine medical jewelry, you can add medical tags to various items of theirs that they may have.  This is also a great idea if your worried about them not keeping their medical bracelets and necklaces on them at all times.

Medical tags can be attached to just about everything.  You could attach them to backpacks for school, or maybe their sports bag when they go swimming, play football or go skiing.  Tags can play a very important role for various other people that might be taking care of your child, maybe a teacher or coach that needs to have that information near by.  This can also be good on wheel chairs, strollers, baby bags, or clothes (swim-suits are important to have a tag on).  Red is normally the best color for a tag so that it can be spotted.  Fashionable tags are to be worn, while the tags themselves need to be easy to spot.
