If you hate the scams and fraud on Ebay like I do please give a ''Yes'' vote to this guide at the bottom of the page. Your vote will help others to see this guide and avoid getting ripped off.
Hijacked Ebay accounts are used to scam buyers by either never delivering the auctioned goods or by sending counterfiet items. The way the accounts are hijacked is by email phishing. Email phishing is an email that looks like it is from Ebay asking the account user to verify their account status. The email looks official and usually even has a warning about scams! The email will have a link that if clicked will take you to a website with an Ebay logon. This is where the account name and password are gathered and the account is hijacked.
There are several steps you can take to avoid this.
1. Do not respond to email from Ebay by clicking on hyperlinked text. You can go to the Ebay website and look in your Ebay messages from your My Ebay page.
2. Change your Ebay password at least every 6 months. Passwords should be at least 8 characters and contain both Alpha and numeric characters.
3. Never, ever use the same password for Ebay and PayPal. Every Password should be unique.
4. Do not respond to Ebay or PayPal request for account status.
5. Do not respond to second chance offers by email. Go to your My Ebay page and look in your messages.
Hope this helps and happy bidding.
