GO TO bowker dot com and apply for your application for single ISBN or multiple ISBN if your a publisher or author.

1... You need to be serious because to become an author money can be right or you'll throw money and valuable time away.

2... Before you can ISBN, make sure you know all the information correct, book title, page count, price of book and you need your book cover ready at this time.

3... Now you can go to copyright dot gov and get your book rights in digital form for $35 electronically, you'll get your book papers in 8 months, copyright is backed up. If you decide to hardcopy your book (sending pages to CR) $45 cost this process is 13 months backlogged at this time. My first book Horticulture Avenues (author Christopher Lee Rhyne) was copyrighted in August 2008, still never got my papers on that copyright and I know AuthorHouse sent hardcopy form. Copyright office wants the ISBN# as they need that number to copyright your book.

DO NOT BUY OTHER ISBN'S ONLY BOWKER ISBN'S, national book stores only purchase bowker books (books with bowker ISBN'S). You'll see ads for $50 - $75 ISBN'S they are real but not official. Planning on selling your book at Barnes&Noble or other book outlets Bowker ISBN.

If you want to become your own publisher go to your tax office and get the license. Florida cost only $39.99, you must do this before you do anything with your first book because this will be the foundation to your first book with copyright and ISBN offices. You get better service on application forms if you're a publisher verses author alone.
