Hot Wheels - Guide to Hot Wheels Acceleracers

Acceleracers is a series of animated videos featuring Mattel's Hot Wheels.  You may have seen some of the characters from the series on the Cartoon Network's Toonami or in the series, "Hot Wheels Highway 35."  The series takes place in California, and to date, four movies have been produced.

The Acceleracers series features 13 different racing realms. Each realm features a variety of different challenges and obstacles.  A realm can be opened by the "Wheel of Power" at any time during the series.  Some of the realms include the Fog Realm, the Monument Realm, the Cybergrid Realm, the Desert Realm, the Solar Realm, and the Wind Realm.

Four teams compete to win in each realm.  The four teams in the Accelerators world include the Metal Maniacs, Teku, Racing Drones, and Silencerz.  When you win a racing realm, you receive an AcceleCharger, which helps drivers to navigate their way through each of the realms. 

The four Acceleracers movies to date are: "Acceleracers: Ignition,"  "Acceleracers: The Speed of Silence," "Acceleracers: Breaking Point," and "Acceleracers: The Ultimate Race."  In addition to the movies, The Cartoon Network has aired intermediate mini episodes, which are available on DVD.  These videos include "Cavern Realm," Lava Realm," "Cliffside," "Ice Realm, " "Ruins Realm, " and "Cosmic Realm," as well as the sequels.  McDonald's has offered action figures as promotional items for the movies, and they're quite popular among collectors.  You can also find a card game featuring the characters and realms from the movies.
