If you are one of us who have been ripped off by those crooks who are selling fake silver dollars, there may be hope!
I recently got a full refund. You will have to work for it though. If your purchase is through Paypal then they can issue a refund, after you jump through all their hoops:
1; Through Ebay (so there is a record) contact the seller and tell them the item is a COUNTERFEIT coin. Remind them that counterfeiting is illegal, and request a FULL refund INCLUDING shipping and handling.Wait at least a week.
2; File your complaint through Paypal, then expect to wait another week at least. They will require you to have a second party verify that the coin is a fake. Even if it is a coin which was never even minted!!! Remember, you MUST get this verification on a letterhead with the company's name, address, phone number and preferably Email address on it.
3; Wait at least another week, and either the seller will agree to refund your money(in my case), or they will have to deal with Paypal. You will probably still have to pay to ship the coin and provide a tracking# back. Still, I got 32 dollars back.
If you used a credit card, and you KNOW, FOR SURE, (by weight or exam), that the coin is fake, cancel the transaction.
If you sent a check or money order you still have recourse through your bank or money order company.
I can not promise this will work for everyone, but it did for me. If enough of us do not roll over and assume "Buyer Beware" is an excuse for these robbers to keep preying on our fellow honest EBayers, we may even get EBay to help solve this problem!!
