Hoover Parts Availability Issues
In January of 2007, The Hoover Company was sold to a Chinese firm called TTI. TTI already owned Dirt Devil Floor Care. As a result of the purchase the combined company had almost double the production and distribution capacity that they needed. TTI immediately closed several facilities and laid off a large number of employees. The main Hoover parts distribution center was closed and consolidated with the Dirt Devil facility.
Ever since these moves were made parts availability has been absolutely terrible. Backorders and special orders that had taken 10 to 14 days to fill are now taking months. I currently have parts on backorder all the way back to April. Even the most common items such as belts, bags and filters are not always available. The fill rate from Hoover on regular stock orders has fallen from around 85% to less than 30%. This is effecting all Hoover dealers and factory service centers nationwide.
I'm in touch with Hoover management a couple of times per week and they can't give me any idea when the situation will improve. Items listed in my eBay store are in stock at my facility. Other Hoover parts and accessories will be restocked as soon as they are available from the factory distribution center. Unfortunately, in many cases I can't tell buyers how long that may take.
Thank you for your patients.
