Holly Dunlap started her fashion career as a lowly intern, paid not in money, but in something more valuable. Manolo Blahniks! Naturally, this started her love affair with shoes and accessories, although she detoured through clothing design at Vivienne Westood and was head designer for the revival of Lilly Pulitzer. Pieces from her Hollywould line are carried in Neimans, Saks and Harrods stores (not online) and feature a blend of glitz, glamour and great design. She draws much of her inspiration from her SoCal upbringing and her stint as a celebrity stylist in, where else, Hollywood.
Her new line for Target allows the rest of us a chance to sample her creations. Bags are in-store/online now and shoes are trickling in…I’ll review them as soon as they’re available. I LOVE the bags and love that she’s done pieces for day to evening in a range of sizes. The cutest pieces (and most likely early sell-outs) are the Monroe evening clutches. These look very Behnaz Sarafpour and feature a black lace overlay over a silver base trimmed in a faux patent bow. These feature glitter that isn’t particularly well attached--definitely brush it with a soft toothbrush or shoe brush prior to using. Otherwise, you could end up looking like you just left your shift at Scores…
The Lulu shoulder bag is also a cute piece--quilted denim w/tiny lurex threads in gold or silver and faux leather trim. Lined in leopard with a signature star charm with tassel in front--I really like the side pockets.
The Fifi tote is larger and features similar construction to the Lulu. The caramel color one has the best looking ‘leather’, although all of the bags look pretty darn good. Check out their website for the full range of styles/materials and enjoy your day in the sun!
