Send a short note at holidays to family and friends. If you send a postcard your note will be a few sentences, therefore not taking much time and you will save money as postcards are currently 24 cents to mail. They need to be about the size of an index card or they can be 4 x 6 inches. An easy way to make them is to reuse old Christmas cards. Cut the front to size and use as a postcard or make them into tags for your gifts. Remember when mailing they need to be rectangular, not square, to have the cheaper postage. Square cards cost extra as they are nonmachineable.
If you get double pictures you may have a few extra snapshots. Pictures can also be sent through the mail. Put a 24 cent stamp on the back, print the address neatly and you have a very personalized postcard. Take extra pics of your kid's friends and use them on cards you make for their birthdays or graduations.
Another gift idea is to purchase stamped postcards, a booklet of stamps and stamped envelopes at your local post office. Bundle them together with a pretty ribbon and present them to a college student or a nursing home resident.
