You see a lot of the Hitler Death Head or skull stamps being offered as having been produced as propaganda forgeries.  Most of them are nothing more than fakes, produced after the war to defraud collectors.  They are offered in mini-sheets of 4, 9, 12, etc, both perforated and imperforate.  There are also sheets with one stamp in the center, offered usually as proofs.  One of the more common fakes seen on today's market are the WW II souvenir sheets with death head fakes and the words at the bottom that read:  "Wer Ein Volk Retten Will Kann Nur Heroisch Denken".  They come in many colors, red, green, brown, etc.  The fakes are often offered as proofs or essays, etc, but don't be fooled, they're junk!

The original propaganda forgeries were printed in sheets of 50 and were perforated.  The color, carmine, is almost exactly the same as the regular issue of the Hitler head definitive issue.  Once you have seen the original stamp, you will not be confused by the many fakes.

Take a look at the pictures and you will see what I'm talking about.  The LEFT picture is of the original propaganda forgery and the right picture is of one of the most common blocks of 4 that is a forgery of the original propaganda forgery.  The middle picture is one of the souvenir sheet types seen now on eBay in the form of the Scott B-102 souvenir sheet.  If you have any questions about these or any other German stamps,  please feel free to contact me.
