When my old Hewlett Packard OfficeJet 40xi (a real workhorse) finally died having given above and beyon what was recommended for year after year, I needed a reliable replacement.  I went back to HP and found a real deal with the HP ColorLaserJet 2600N.  The ink cartridges are absolutely the easiest to replace...just drop in and go...and each color is separate in case, like my husband, you are a freak for blue.  While the cartridges seem pricey at $80-$100 each, they last for many prints and are a bargain in the long run.  The quality of the print is so high that I print almost everything on the draft setting and nobody can tell the difference...and I save even more ink.
