Living in Europe and actually going into the Hermes store to buy items has taught me Alot!

First, on the scarves....Hermes scarves have TWO identifying marks, one will be the Hermes name- Paris with the accent above the E ( second e first identity mark). Be weary of sellers saying "Vintage" in their listings as this is a unique way of selling fakes due to the fact that this( the hermes copyright symbol)was a new addition in the late 70"s. Then, hidden in the design usually in the upper left hand corner is the word Hermes with the c in a circle which is their copyright mark. Note: the hermes copyright only says Hermes...not Hermes-Paris...this is a common fake mark on Italian imitations. If the seller does not show you BOTH of these marks, it is NOT Hermes. The design will be vibrant on only ONE side.  The hand rolled edge will be rolled TOWARDS the vibrant side. The stitches will be EXACTLY 1/2 cms apart near the corners and 1 cms apart 1 1/2 inches from the corners. The stitching is NOT visible on the FRONT of the scarf, but you CAN see it on the back.  The edges will almost look like cording they will be so tight.  Hermes scarves are NOT made in Italy!  And they come with a LONG care tag on the back.  It is my experience that all Hermes scarves will come with the how to tie book..however, sellers rarely include this in their auction.  They also come in the square box ( with lid)w/tissue.sticker and ribbon.  The reciept is placed in a nice white envelope, and the whole thing will come in the hermes shopping bag with dark brown cord handles ( not a faded brown).

Now on to the purses...First and foremost...If your hermes purse birkin or kelly has a blind stamp of 25s And craftmans id of K  it's a fake.  I see SO many of these on ebay it has been driving me nuts.!  So, I thought you should look out for that one first!.Hermes ALWAYS puts a blind stamp on the leather.  If your Herbag does not have one....it's a fake.  If your picotin does not have one...it's a fake.  The ONLY Hermes that I have seen in the stores that does not have the craftsman I.D is the canvas duffle with leather trim, and the garden party( canvas- the leather one Will have a blindstamp)but the garden party is embossed ( and NOT in gold) with the hermes name and made in france.

The accent above the E in Hermes is NOT angled!!! It will be Parallel!! This is important!  I see SO many birkins, kellys, and lindys with the WRONG "e" marking!

The leather messenger in orange does not say hermes Paris, but the brown and black will.

The Birkins always have Hermes on all of the metal as well as the h stop on the zipper and blindstamps.  They come with rain kit, key, lock, key clochette, felt covers, boxes and are quite expensive. The locks have two dimples on the lower part of the opening.  The clochette is not openended, but secured and the keys are not attached with a cheap metal o ring.  The bag is entirely hand-stiched and the stiching is 2mm at the most in lenght and uniform.  The piping should indent on the sides as this is charateristic of the strength, and no glue is used. The store in Nurenburg, Germany only carries one canvas Birkin at a time, and four all leather birkins, one crocodile, about 4 boldies, and in the back carry several of the garden parties in leather which this year are lined in an orange and yellow silk, and of course come with the matching twilly.  They only carry one paradieses, and it is located on the downstairs level.

When you purchase anything from Hermes, you can be placed in their customer computer list.  If someone says they bought the item from a Hermes store, call the store and ask if the person REALLY bought it there.  They WILL have a record of it, and it is international, so no excuses if they say they bought it in France, and you are in U.S.A.,...you can verify the purchase anywhere in the world, and you can go to the hermes website to find out where they have stores.

If your item has a "s" stamp on it, it was either a sample or sale item and was greatly discounted/ so if a seller is asking close to original price...beware!  Many of these items have flaws!

It is best to go into a Hermes store for your self and check out what you are interested in.  Hermes will not verify if your purse is a fake or not, unless your SA knows you well...then they are very helpful., but will not put anything in writing.
