"Paddock" was designed by Jean Louis Clerc in 1956 at a time when this free style was very popular. Unfortunately this has made it popular with the fakers in recent years because their poor print quality is not so obvious. Recent developments in printing technology mean that fakes can now be near photo-accurate and even include the Hermes copyright and Clerc signature. These are not a guarantee that the scarf is genuine. I have said previously that the beauty of Hermes silk scarves is in the detail. It is also in the depth of the colours used. Fakes often have very bright backgrounds and strangely coloured horses and people.
Genuine vintage scarf...natural colours. Fake scarf...garish colours and blue horses!
Genuine vintage scarf...natural colours again. Flourescent fake with deep red horses.

"Paddock" has been re-issued by Hermes several times in recent years. You will find it hard to tell fake from genuine of this design just by looking at the detail. The fakes tend to be bright fluorescent colours with un-naturally coloured horses and people. Do also look at who is selling the scarf and what else they are selling or have sold. Be extremely suspicious of any Seller who has handled more that one of the same design recently. Hermes do not supply discount warehouses!
