Hermes first produced this Jumping scarf design by Philippe Ledoux in 1971. It has been re-issued seveal times since in some different colour combinations.

Fakes of this design have appeared fairly recently....29.99USD in bulk from the warehouse in China.  The detail on the fake is very accurate and at first glance hard to tell from the genuine item.  I cannot stress enough that you need to know what the genuine item should look like before committing your hard earned money, on what could turn out to be a cheap fake.

These are some of the colours of genuine Jumping produced by Hermes.  All these genuine colours have shadows behind the harnesses in the centre..

Now here is a navy FAKE, which at first glance looks much like the genuine one....BUT .......

the fake has no shadows...look at these genuine ones below in close up.....the shadows are clear...even in the solid navy blue version...

This particular fake in the examples also looked shiny, was missing the characteristic diagonal twill weave and had a care tag in the wrong place.

So to summarise: if there are no shadows, then it is fake.  .....  EXCEPT for the black version below!

You need to really check out the Seller if you are thinking about a black one.  If in doubt then don't bid!

If you cannot see the detail, then ask the seller to provide extra photos. Fakes often come with one fuzzy picture and the Seller's camera is suddenly no longer available or broken.  A genuine Seller will be happy to provide extra photos and will most likely have them already in their listing.

Ebay do not allow very high resolution pictures here.  I can email you a copy of this guide with better pictures.  Just contact me through the Ebay system, remembering to give me your email address, otherwise I cannot respond.

PS: I forgot to mention that the original 1971 version has the old style copyright with the C after the Hermes Paris in the right bottom corner.  Later issues lose this and have the "Hermes C" newer style copyright in the left corner.  Have a look at this guide on Copyright Marks.
