There was a period, peaking during the 1980's when cheap polyester and silk scarves, were stamped Hermes Paris and sold as genuine. These were common in the larger European city street markets, particularly in Italy. There were occasional approximations to Hermes designs, some of which we have descussed in other guides, and some which bore no resemblance to a Hermes product whatsoever. Many had machines hems. Four way diagonal symmetry is common, few colours are used, and the Hermes Paris is not integrated into the design but just stuck in the corner or occasionally all over the scarf! These fakes often re-appear onto the market from estate clearance sales.
Here are some typical designs that Hermes never produced...... and close ups of the Hermes Paris used ........

Hermes nearly always integrate their Hermes Paris into the design. Have a look at some genuine examples by clicking this hyperlink to Hermes Paris examples.
Do have a look at the Seller...have they sold many designs from the fakes list...or are they an Estate Clearance Specialist selling their first scarf?
