Hermes scarves produced in the last 25 years ALWAYS have a copyright mark like these examples below.
1789 Republique Francaise 1989............ Alphabet 3 1990................................. Au Son des Tam-Tam 1997.....................
Aloha 2000............................................. Bal des Bulles 2003..........................A La Gloire de Guillaume 2004 re-issue....
A Vos Crayons 2004.......................... A Contre Courant 2005 - white on light blue.. Belles du Mexiques 2007.............
These marks are usually dark colours but may be white, subtle pastels and almost invisible. Sometimes though rarely, Hermes use black ink on a black background, which can only be seen from the reverse side! Typically copyright marks will be in the top left corner of the scarf, but can be elsewhere...AND...can move around from one issue to the next!
It is important to know that many modern fakes may have a near identical copyright mark, occasionally with lettering not so well formed but very hard to distinguish without comparisons of the same pattern.
Early vintage scarves did not have any copyright marks. Between the early 1960's and 1980's Hermes used a circled C mark, initially disguised in the pattern then later after the Hermes Paris. See my guide on Vintage Copyright Marks.
It is always important to look at all the key features of the scarf and to decide whether the Seller is trustworthy before bidding on what might well turn out to be a cheap fake being sold as genuine. Have a look at some of my other guides via this How to avoid Fakes link.
