Hermes produced two versions of this Balles de Golf design by Christiane Vauzelles. The 'Square' version was first issued in 1966. The new 'H' version was first issued in 2006 with Pierre Aleix Dumas. Both versions have been faked. The 'H' version is currently available on three Chinese 'designer replica' websites at around 30USD.
Here is the original 1966 version..... and two colours of the 2006 version straight from the Hermes catalog.
Hermes always use a wavy watermark on their catalog pictures. If you see this watermark like the ones above on photos in a listing
THEN THEY ARE STOLEN PICTURES... and the Seller may not actually have an item to sell.
The quality of these Chinese replicas is very poor. New Ebay Seller purplezebra28 in Australia had one of these, together with a fake A Vos Crayons and a fake Burberry for sale (26th September 2009). Here are the photos from that auction:
And a comparison of the detail .........GENUINE balls.......... ........and FAKE balls!
You have already read my guide about Care Labels on Hermes Scarves so know what to look out for there. And if you have read any of my other Guides then you will know that colour and detail are the quickest ways to spot fakes.
The Sellers usually give themselves away too. This Seller had less than six months with Ebay, had only BOUGHT to get her 15 feedbacks, all cheap fashion items, and was selling this with two other known fakes. I have not actually seen a genuine version of this design on Ebay yet but will add more photos as soon as I get them for comparison. You will help more people to see this Guide if you click on the YES button now! Thanks.
