Hermes issued  "A Vos Crayons" by Leigh Cooke in 2004.  There followed a quick flood of poor quality fakes.  You need to know what the genuine scarf should look like before bidding, otherwise you may pay designer prices for a cheap fake.

Genuine..........................................................    FAKE..................................................................

Genuine...................................................         FAKE.................................................................

Look at pencil shavings in the genuine version... compared to the crude FAKE missing colours.....

AND... the genuine version with a contrasting hem....................the FAKE without contrasting hem..and this label in the wrong place too.

Genuine version always has a contrasting hem...........GENUINE...........................................GENUINE.....................................

You will find that the genuine item will be accompanied by many high resolution photographs.  This is partly because genuine Sellers know how many fakes there are of this design.  The Fake item is nearly always out of focus in the pictures, with few or no detailed close ups.

1) No contrasting hem - FAKE!

2) Light or white coloured pencil shavings - FAKE!

Do look at all the other factors, including the reputation of the Seller, whether or not they are Hermes Experts...OR... honest but naive Estate Clearance Specialists!

Your positive feedback is always welcome via the Ebay emailing system, or you can leave your comments in my Guest Book.

UPDATE: 2009....

There is a new generation fake now with the right coloured pencil shavings...

and with a contrasting hem.

NO  CONTRASTING  HEM ALWAYS  MEANS FAKE!

The one that have appeared so far have very poor quality sewing on the hems, and obviously fake care tags.

If the seller does not supply you with high resolution pictures showing a contrasting hem THEN DON'T BID!!
