Herkimer Diamonds are a quartz crystal variation that are found only in the foothills in Herkimer County, NY, USA. Do not be fooled by the quartz beings sold as Herkimers  from Mexico, Tibet, Africa and Other Locations. Herkimers formed approx. 500 Million Years ago in small pockets of dolostones and bedrock, some of the hardest rock in the world.

Herkimer Diamonds are the most valuable and clearest of all quartz and are sought the world over by collectors and for their Metaphysical properties.  All my Herkimer Diamonds come from a private claim of land in Herkimer County, NY, ALL mined by Hand by one person, and are Guarenteed at the lowest Buy it now price for the "gems" usually between $1.50 - $4+ per Carat for the world Famous naturally faceted Herkimer "gems".

These amazing crystals get their name because they are similiar in shape and clarity to real diamonds. They were named after General Herkimer who mistook them for real diamonds when he saw them in the 1700's.

Herkimers naturally form with 18 facets and are double terminated (points at both ends).  They have a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale of Hardness, with 10 being the Hardest (real diamonds). The smaller "Gems" can be flawless in clarity that has no Rival, they begin to have inclusions over 20mm in size, Average wholesale on the AA Grade Herkimers run around $14 per gram. They are true works of art straight from Mother Earth. 

Herkimer Diamonds are known as the stone of "attunement" for Reiki and other Energy healing practices. They are also stones of InnerVision, and are useful in Dream work, Energy work and meditation.

When looking for your Herkimer Diamond it is important to shop around. These crystals are the most valuable of all quartz crystals and they are fairly more expensive than other quartz, but with a little hunting you should be able to find a dealer with lower price and higher quality. Make sure you are getting them from a reliable source, as many people claim to be selling Herkimers but they are Tibetan, African or Mexican crystals. Make sure they are coming from Herkimer County / Upstate NY.
