Hemp fabrics have become some of the most popular for cloth diapers and cloth diapering accessories. I love hemp because it is so absorbent and durable. Hemp is also a very eco-friendly crop, so it is nice to know that by using this fabric, I am helping to keep the planet healthy.
Is Hemp better for the environment?
Yes. Hemp grows well in a vaiety of climates and soil types. Hemp farming requires no pesticides and doesn ot deplete the soil. It grows tightly spaced, out competing weeds, so herbicides are not necessary. It also leaves a week free field for a following crop. Fifty percent of the pesticides used worldwide are used in the production of cotton. Hemp returns nitrogen to the soil which improves fertility. Other crops grown on the same soil will require less fertilizer and produce a higher yield. Hemp requires less water, soil, and nutrients to grow then other crops.
We use unbleached hemp in our products. The bleaching process is very harmful to the environment.

Is Hemp better for you?
Yes. Hemp is naturally anti-microbial. This makes it resistant to mold, mildew, fungus, and bacteria. Hemp fibers are porous and therefore more absorbent than other fabrics. This also makes it breathable and cool, keeping you comfortable.
Is Hemp more durable?
Products made from hemp fabrics will last longer and stand up to heavier use. In tests conducted by Patagonia Inc., a leading manufacturer of outdoor gear, hemp proved to have 4 times the durability of cotton, and 8 tiems the tencil strength of cotton.
