CHOOSING THE RIGHT HAIR COLOR

 

HAIR COLOR LEVELS

1- Black

2-Darkest Brown (black to the eye)

3-Dark Brown (very dark)

4-Medium Brown (dark with red hue)

5-Light Brown (most call medium brown)

6-Dark Blonde (most call light brown)

7-Medium Blonde (commonly called "dirty blonde")

8-Light Blonde (golden medium blonde)

9-Lighter Blonde (most call blonde)

10-Palest Blonde (light as you can be without being white)

 

CHOOSING COLOR FOR GRAY HAIR

When choosing a color, say you have medium brown hair and want to cover gray hair;if you are only about 5-30% graygo with 1 level higher to a level 5, and so on.Choosing a 4 which is the same as your natural color woul;d make you hair 1 1/2 -2 shades darker.If you are 40-100% gray always choose a color in the desired level you would like to be.

 

UNDERSTANDING THE NUMBER AND LETTERS IDENTIFIED WITH COLOR

- Each shade has a number, which indicates level and 1 or 2 letters which indicate tone. The first letter indicates primary tone second letter indicates secondary tone.

EXAMPLE: 7Cr = Level 7, main tone Copper, second tone Red

BACKGROUND COLOR AND TONE - Background color is the portion of the color base that helps produce balanced, natural looking results and gives the shade it's foundation.Tone is the portion of the base that gives a shade it's unique character.

 

DEVELOPERS

10 Vol-up to 1 level of lift

20 Vol-up to 2 levels of lift

30 Vol-up to 3 levels of lift

40 Vol-up to 4 levels of lift

 

WORKING WITH UNDERTONES 

1. Undertones are the unrefined warm tones exposed during th lifting process.

2.Always consider the exposed undertones visible at the target level.

3.Remember opposites neutralize-remember the color wheel.

4.To counteract undertones, use a shade level with tonal value opposite to the undertone exposed.

5. To enhance undertones,use a color with a tonal value similar to the undertone exposed
