You may have seen the high price of the Sidekick 3 and decided that the difference between the earlier model just isn't worth the price, or you love your SK2, but it's been stalling on you

You now need to find a Sidekick for a good price, on Ebay!

Here are some tips and things to avoid when looking for your next Hiptop;
  • Avoid Sim Issues - This is pretty obvious, but may go unnoticed by some. If the sidekick that you are looking at has any mention of a Sim issue please stay away. It is very hard to fix the Sim issue, although their claim to be easy fixes to this issue - it just isn't worth it. There are people who list saying "The Sim works most of the time." or "Occasional Sim issues, just take out an replace and works fine." No, don't do it - stay away

  • Don't always look for accessories - It is often a pitch that an auction has an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) charger, case or car charger. This will only boost the price of the auction - usually beyond the cheap price it costs to purchase these items on ebay. You can find great deals and if you by from the same seller - likely you can combine shipping.

  • If you want to avoid trouble, avoid sidekicks sold "As-is" Now there is a little bit of a disclaimer for this - you can occasionally find great deals on items sold "As-is" or "for parts or repairs". You can then easily fix (replace keyboard or screen), and you have a great bargain. But, more times than not you have ongoing Sim, screen,  button or issues that are hard to fix for a cheap price, and often the seller will be unresponsive and unwilling to cooperate as they "sold as-is"
  • Battery issues - You also see in many listings battery issues, claiming that you can just replace the battery. Replacing the battery is very hard to do, if not impossible. The batteries are expensive and it is unlikely after replacing the battery that the unit can get working again. Buy a Sidekick that doesn't claim to have any battery issues (if it does, obviously return)

A final word, feedback, when it comes to Sidekicks is not always something you should consider. Although, someone with a 0-5 you should stay away from; you don't need to look for a triple digit FB to have a good phone. This is because people who sell their sidekicks individually, I find, have not been sold off to these larger Powersellers in large lots - indicating an issue or multiple buyers.  Often, the description of those with lower feedbacks will be more accurate and indicative of the real character of the Sidekick.

Hope this helps, and if you have any question - message me.
