If you have been building jigsaw puzzles for a long time, you have no doubt experienced that dreaded missing puzzle piece scenario more than once. If you should find yourself in such a situation, here are the various puzzle manufacturers processes for requesting a missing piece or reporting a defect:

Buffalo Games

For defective or missing puzzle pieces, follow the instructions below:

1. Cut out UPC code from the box
2. Include one of the puzzle pieces
3. Write the description of the problem on a piece of paper
4. Include your return address
5. Mail to:

Allow 6 to 8 weeks for processing!

They will most likely not ship you back just one piece but will instead issue a replacement of the whole puzzle or a voucher for a free puzzle to be redeemed in a local store.

Ceaco

A very good company for helping customers with missing puzzle pieces. If you should be missing a puzzle piece be sure to double check the box and surrounding areas first but if you still can't find the piece, follow these instructions:

1) Write your name, complete shipping address (no P.O. Boxes), phone number and email address on a plain piece of paper. Also include the puzzle name and item number (found on the side of the box) for the puzzle with the missing piece and include a brief description of the problem.

2) Cut the UPC code from the box with the missing piece(s)

3) Place the UPC code and info from step 1 in an envelope

4) Mail to:

5) Allow for 6 to 8 weeks for processing and delivery

They will normally send you a replacement puzzle but if that puzzle is no longer available in active inventory, they will send you another product of equal value and size.

Ravensburger

While Ravensburger states in their literature that due to the "production process" they can't supply single missing pieces, you can get a full replacement from them by following the instructions below:

2. Fill in the contact info and explain your problem
3. Follow up often as they are not great about responding to customer issues
4. Do not take NO for an answer

Allow 8 to 10 weeks for processing

Wrebbit Puzz 3D (Hasbro)

Unlike Buffalo Games and Ravensburger, Puzz 3D will send out individual missing pieces. You just need to identify which piece is missing and follow the instructions below:

1. Include the technical drawing of the puzzle and circle the missing piece
2. On a plain piece of paper, write your name, address and phone number as well as the puzzle name and item # in question
3. Mail to

Allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing!

Hasbro

You may send an email requesting the pieces you need. When writting, be sure to fill in the online form with as much information as possible.

Follow these steps to request missing pieces:

2. Fill in all info
• Name of the puzzle
• When you purchased or recieved the product
• The parts that are needed
• Product UPC code, if available
3. Hit submit

A full replacement puzzle is the most likely result.

White Mountain Puzzles, Inc.

These guys just plain make it easy but they do ask that you search high and low before contacting them. To contact them about a missing puzzle piece:

1. Call them at 1-800-548-8009 ext. 19
2. They will ask you to double and triple check but if convinced they will send you a replacement

MasterPieces Puzzle Company

These guys are usually very good when it comes to replacing missing puzzle pieces. Most of the time they will send a complete replacement with little hassel. To report a missing piece or defective puzzle to them follow these instructions:

1. Fill in a plain piece of paper with your name, address, the puzzle name and number and a brief description of the problem
2. Mail to:

Serendipity Puzzles

Unfortunately I don't have much experience with this company in regards to how they handle missing puzzle pieces but I believe they should be able to help if you just drop them a note:

2. Tell them which puzzle you have (include UPC code if possible) and let them know you are missing a piece
3. A customer service agent should et back to you in a day or two

Sorry I don't have more concrete info regarding this company as I just started to carry their puzzles in my store but they seem to be very nice and helpful.

Final Tips

As always make sure you double and triple check the box to verify that the missing jigsaw puzzle piece didn't get stuck in a flap or corner and also do a thorough search of the room where you were building the puzzle just to make sure it didn't fall on the floor or a chair. If you just vacuumed recently, you might want to look in the vacuum bag (I have done this more than once). Finally, make sure that you didn't stick a piece in the wrong area of the puzzle, as there are some pieces that may look like they fit but in reality they don't really belong in that spot.
