Whether you're a first time mom or have had previous children, buying baby paraphenalia is somewhat scary. Most magazines you buy will tell you to buy this and this and come to find out later you didn't really need it or they forgot to tell you to buy something that you found was really darn useful. Here is THE guide to what to buy for your little bundle of joy, from a mom who's had 4 children!
For babies born in both summer and winter:
Diapers and Diaper Wipes (ask for these from anyone who wants to buy you stuff, you'll get tons!)
Burp Rags (Wal-Mart now sells cute little cloth diaper looking burp rags for pretty cheap) You'll want at least 16 of these.- babies spit up alot!
Onesies (great to wear alone or as an undershirt) You'll want about 16 of these too
Gowns (Wonderful inventions!) You'll want at least 4 of these
A Good Stain Remover (a wonderful one if you can find it is Totaly Toddler Stain Remover, you can sometimes find it at Wal-Mart, it will get out any stain your little one can put in his/her clothes, its cheap and works better than anything else on the market!)
If you're having a summer baby you'll want:
Shorts rompers - About 6 of these
Recieving blankets (to keep sun out of baby's eyes when you go outside and to keep the air conditioner chill away) You'll want about 4 of these
If You're Having a Winter Baby you'll want:
Rompers and Footed Sleepers (to go out in and to sleep in) You'll want at least 12 of these
Socks - You'll want at least 6 pairs
Fleece Blankets (to cover up with and to keep chill away when you go out) You'll want at least 4 of these
Snowsuit/Bunting/Pram (wonderful and warmer than a coat!)
Stuff to Avoid and that are Worthless:
Booties (socks work just fine)
Hooded towel sets (cute, but regular towels work just fine)
Baby Robes (also cute, but not needed)
Shoes (babies don't walk yet so shoes are not needed, socks work just as well)
Pant and short sets (lets face it, babies move alot and if you can find a set that fits baby both on top and in the waist, 10 minutes after putting it on him/her, the bottoms will have slid up and will be giving your child a wedgie and the shirt will be around the poor baby's neck. Save the cute sets for after baby can sit up on his/her own)
Hats/Headbands (babies never keep these on their heads. If you feel the need, buy at least 2 of them, but they're not necessary)
