I have been listing my auctions for about 2 months now with Auctiva & have learned all the tricks & want to share them with you.

BECOMING A MEMBER:

Very easy to join, all you do is log on to www dot auctiva dot com & registration is painless & fast & easy. A few short questions & you are all ready to go.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO NEXT, Create a "SELLER DETAIL" list:

Click the "PROFILES" Tab which is BLUE & after clicking will turn GREEN, now click the "SELLER DETAILS" option. You are now going to create a master seller detail list to add to all of your listings.

PAYMENT is first... type all the payment details for your items. click next.

SHIPPING is next... add in your shipping policies. click next.

ABOUT ME is next... tell a little about yourself, add your logo, whatever you would like to add. click next.

CONTACT US is next... add your contact information. click next.

TERMS OF SALE is next... type in your terms accepted. click next.

NAME OF SELLER DETAILS is next... name your details section you just created to use in all future listings.

YOU WILL USE THIS SELLER DETAIL LIST ON ALL FUTURE LISTINGS & NOT TO WORRY YOU CAN EDIT IT ANYTIME IF ANY OF YOUR POLICIES CHANGE.

IMAGES:

Uploading images is made easy even to the novice HTMLer.

Click the "IMAGES" tab at the top of the auctiva homepage & choose from 3 uploading options:

Drop & Drag Uploader

Java Uploader

BASIC HTML Uploader

The BASIC HTML Uploader is what i use & by far the easiest.

[one of my tricks i learned the hard way about uploading images MUST READ!]

BEFORE LISTING AN AUCTION UPLOAD ALL OF THE PICTURES TO YOUR AUCTIVA FIRST... YOU "CAN" BUT "SHOULD NOT" UPLOAD PICTURES DURING THE LISTING PROCESS DUE TO A GLITCH IN THE AUCTIVA SITE IMAGES SECTION. IF YOU UPLOAD PICTURES DURING THE PROCESS IT WILL LET YOU BUT WHEN YOU GET TO THE TEMPLATE SECTION IT WILL NOT LET YOU USE A TEMPLATE. I HAVE NOTIFIED AUCTIVA OF THIS PROBLEM & THEY ARE AWARE.

Once you have uploaded all of your pictures to auctiva refresh the page (refreshing the page is at the top of the computer screen, it is that little square paper looking icon that has 2 green arrows going in a circle, looks like a recycle icon) click the refresh icon & now move on to actually listing an auction.

YOU CAN MANAGE YOUR PICTURES INTO FOLDERS, SAVE THEM FOR FUTURE USE, ADD BORDERS TO THEM & MANY MORE OPTIONS; PLEASE FEEL FREE TO BROWSE THE IMAGES SECTION FOR MORE DETAILS.

LISTING A NEW AUCTION USING AUCTIVA:

Click the "LISTINGS" tab at the top of the auctiva homepage & choose one of many options:

New Listing

Create New Listing From Master Profile 

Create A Similiar Listing

YOU CAN ALSO CHOOSE FROM WHAT IS IN YOUR:

Saved Listings

Scheduled Listings

Active Listings

Closed Listings

Folders

I am going to take you through step-by-step on creating a new listing for this guides purposes.

FIRST:

Choose whether you are listing an item Auction Style, Fixed priced Item -or- an item for Store Inventory. The 3 different options are at the very top of the new listing page.

BE SURE NOT TO FORGET THIS FEATURE TO MAKE SURE YOUR ITEM IS LISTED IN THE RIGHT PLACE, I FORGOT THIS ALOT IN THE BEGINNING.

SECOND:

Create your Title & Subtitle if you are using one.

THIRD:

Choose which ebay category you will sell that particular item in.

"BROWSE"  will allow you to choose & scroll through all of eBay's categories & choose step by step until the category is chosen.

"SEARCH " will allow to to tyoe in keyword(s) to automatically search for your categories. Type your keyword for that item into a search engine & auctiva looks for the category for you.

WHEN YOU USE THE SEARCH OPTION IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT ONCE THE CATEGORIES COME UP  & MORE THAN 1 ALWAYS WILL YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE THE "PICK" OPTION & AFTER DOING SO A "CHOOSE" BUTTON WILL APPEAR, CLICK THE "CHOOSE" BUTTON & THAT CATEGORY WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE USED FOR THAT ITEM. IF YOU DO NOT DO THE STEPS I LISTED ABOVE THE CATEGORY WILL NOT BE CHOSEN & YOU WILL BE ASKED TO CHOOSE BEFORE SUBMITTING.

You may also choose to list in 2 different, seperate categories for a fee if you'd like, the option is to the right of the first category section.

FOURTH: 

Write the items description. THE FUN PART THAT ALL OF US SELLERS JUST LOVE!!! You may use the mode that is automatically assigned as seen on the listing page or switch to TEXT MODE or VIEW FULL SIZE EDITOR. I am so so with HTML so i use the fast & easy one that is there. I am an avid copy & paster! lol.

FIFTH:

Add your images.

LISTEN UP PEOPLE HERE IS THE BEST PART ABOUT AUCTIVA... AUCTIVA ALLOWS YOU TO ADD UP TO 16 IMAGES PER LISTING FOR FREE! FREE!! FREE!! YUP. 16 IMAGES FOR FREE. This is a great feature for "lots" of items, mixed clothes lots, different views of an item, i could go on & on & on. UP TO 16 FREE IMAGES!

To upload your images is easy. You already uploaded the images to auctiva now they have to be inserted into your listing. Click the little "SELECT AN IMAGE" square & a new window will appear. Choose 1 or up to 16 images that you uploaded prior to listing for that item. Click once to choose the first image & double click to choose each additional image; YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CLOSE THAT WINDOW TO ADD EACH ADDITIONAL IMAGE. DOUBLE CLICK & A SMALL NUMBER WILL APPEAR TO TELL YOU WHAT NUMBER IMAGE THAT IMAGE WILL BE (1,2,3,4,5 & so on).

SIXTH:

CHOOSE A GALLERY PIC IF YOU'D LIKE. I like gallery Pics. While i am not a new eBayer anymore i remember when i first started i would only look at items listed that i would be looking for that had that little picture showing for me to see, eye-candy if you will SO i list to all eBayers, new * old by adding a gallery pic but that is certainly up to you. The Gallery Pic option is to the right of the Images Section. Drop down the little drop box (where the little downward arrow is & choose what number picture you would like, fees apply)

SEVENTH:

Pricing Section. Add your "STARTING PRICE" for auction style listings, "BUY IT NOW PRICE" for auction style listings with a starting price -or- your fixed price items. You also add any "RESERVE PRICE" in that same section.

EIGHTH:

Quantity. How many of that particular item & is is single or in a "LOT".

NINTH:

Duration & Private Auction Option. Choose from 3, 5, 7 or 10 days with small fee for 10 days. You may also choose to make this listing private.

TENTH:

CHOOSE YOUR AUCTION TEMPLATE [MY FAVORITE PART]. This is the really fun part for most, dressing up all of your auctions! there are tons of FREE, FREE, FREE AUCTION TEMPLATES to choose from. Click the BLUE, SELECT TEMPLATE BOX & a new window will appear. Browse "All Categories" or color specific or search for keywords in patterns. One day when you have some time you may want to just take a look to see what options may work for you if you like to stick to a theme. I am frogmom1010 & my store is TADPOLES1010, my logo is Kermit the Frog & most all my templates are green to match my theme in my store, green, frogs. Pick the FREE AUCTION TEMPLATES that work for you or match that item.

ELEVENTH:

SELECT THOSE SELLER DETAILS YOU ALREADY CREATED TO BE AUTOMATICALLY ADDED TO YUOR LISTING. You may also choose not to add those details by simply not choosing any options & going to the next step.

TWELFTH:

SELLATHON COUNTER. You may like to add a Sellathon Counter to your listing. You do not have to if you use Andale Counters or some other counter. You can log onto Sellathon to edit counters & lots more stuff there. Take a look when you have the time! None-the-less if you'd like add this counter to the listing by clicking the drop box down & choosing "SELLATHON COUNTER" Option.

THIRTEENTH:

MARKETING TOOLS.  Maximize this part of the listing to add features such as:

Bold

Highlight

Border

Gallery

Gallery Featured

Featured Plus

Homepage Featured

Gift icon

Gift Wrap/Gift Card

Express Shipping

Ship to Gift Recipient

Fees may apply. Be sure to check any, all or none for your listing that apply.

FOURTEENTH:

SHIPPING TOOLS. Maximize this part of the listing to add features like:

Zip Code

City

State

Country

Some regional buyers only buy from their own area so it is important to use these options.

Also in this section choose that items HANDLING TIME. Click the drop box to choose how many day to ship. 1-20 days are the choices you may pick from.

FIFTEENTH:

WHERE WILL YOU SHIP TO? Below are the choices to pick from...

Australia

Europe

Americas

United Kingdom

Asia

Japan

Canada

Mexico

Germany

Worldwide

Select one or all of the shipping destinations where your item can be shipped to.

NEXT CHOOSE FROM THESE 3 OPTIONS:

Flat Rate Shipping

Calculated Shipping

Arrange for Local Pick-Up(will not ship)

SHIPPING WHO'S, WHAT'S & HOW'S ARE TOTALLY UP TO YOU. I USUALLY DETERMINE THE METHOD OF SHIPPING ACCORDING TO THE ITEM & ITS WEIGHT. YOU WILL HAVE TO FIGURE THAT OUT ON YOUR OWN. USPS HA SA GREAT WEBSITE THAT IS VERY HELPFUL WHEN IT COMES TO GETTING STARTED & YOU CAN ALSO ORDER SOME FREE SHIPPING SUPPLIES THERE. WWW DOT USPS DOT COM.

Next choose your "DOMESTIC SHIPPING OPTIONS". Choose 1-3 services for your domestic shipping options (First Class, priority, etc...)

IF YOU SHIP OUT OF COUNTRY: Choose up to 3 INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING OPTIONS (economy, airmail, global priority, etc...)

Add insurance here also underneath shipping options if you like to.

SIXTEENTH:

CHECKOUT OPTIONS: You are almost finished! Maximize these options to add your payment methods.

Paypal

Money Orders/Cashier's Checks

Personal Check

MERCHANT CREDIT CARDS: Visa/Mastercard, American Express or Discover are those options.

Be sure to add your exact email address to the paypal section, always double check that!

ADD SALES TAX FOR MERCHANTS IF APPLICABLE. YOU MAY INCLUDE SALES TAX IF NECESSARY. AND TYPE IN ANY ALTERNATIVE PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS IF YOU'D LIKE TOO.

SEVENTEENTH:

VERY IMPORTANT STEP...

YOU ARE REALLY ALMOST FINISHED NOW...

YOU MUST ALWAYS "PREVIEW" YOUR LISTING.

ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE AT THE BOTTOM THERE UNDER PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS CLICK THE BLUE BUTTON THAT SAY "PREVIEW". A new window will appear, check over the listing, go back to correct any mistakes or make any & all changes.

I like to check for "ESTIMATED eBay FEES" SO YOU CAN IF YOU'D LIKE by clicking that button.

There is also an "ERROR CHECK" button if you feel the nee dto do so?

YOU ARE NOW READY TO POST YOUR LISTING!!!

Click "SAVE" if you want to save the listing to list later or use as a template of sorts.

Click "POST" to POST YOUR LISTING TO eBay.

After a few minutes check your email for listing an item email from eBay, it usually takes 2 minutes or less.
