Every family ( or ) individual should BE Prepared you never know what Emergency event or natural disaster like an

earthquake, flood, hurricane, tornado, or even being broke down and stranded in your car. Everybody needs to have

some survival gear or a foldable, survival shovel, tools. Below you will find six ideas to get you or anyone started on

building their own survival kit or referencing to find a pre packaged survival kit that suits your needs.

One thing your family should do is gather supplies for a disaster supply kit. There are six basics a kit should contain:

  • Water: One gallon of sealed bottled water per person per day
  • Food: Three day supply of ready-to-eat, nonperishable items
  • First Aid Supplies: First aid kit, prescriptions, over-the-counter medications and hygiene items, such as toilet paper, hand sanitizer and towelettes
  • Clothing and bedding: Good shoes, boots, raincoat, hat, gloves and blankets or sleeping bag
  • Tools and emergency supplies: Flash light, batteries, manual can opener, large trash bags and portable radio
  • Special items: For babies, children and seniors, important papers, such as insurance and identification, cash and a roll of quarters, an extra pair of eye glasses if you need them. If you have pets, don't forget pet food.

Store your kit in a convenient place known to all family members. Keep a smaller version in your car.

A backpack, duffle bag, plastic tub or trash can are easy to carry containers for your kit.

Keep items in airtight plastic bags.

Change out your bottled water and stored food every six months for freshness.

This is a way for you to create your own but you must refresh your supply often. Another way is to buy one prepackaged and ready to go at moments notice

choose carefully and make sure you have enough for at least 72 hrs and most have a shelf life of 5 years and if you conserved your supply would last longer than
