- Food: Three day supply of ready-to-eat, nonperishable items
- First Aid Supplies: First aid kit, prescriptions, over-the-counter medications and hygiene items, such as toilet paper, hand sanitizer and towelettes
- Clothing and bedding: Good shoes, boots, raincoat, hat, gloves and blankets or sleeping bag
- Tools and emergency supplies: Flash light, batteries, manual can opener, large trash bags and portable radio
- Special items: For babies, children and seniors, important papers, such as insurance and identification, cash and a roll of quarters, an extra pair of eye glasses if you need them. If you have pets, don't forget pet food.

A backpack, duffle bag, plastic tub or trash can are easy to carry containers for your kit.
Keep items in airtight plastic bags.
Change out your bottled water and stored food every six months for freshness.
This is a way for you to create your own but you must refresh your supply often. Another way is to buy one prepackaged and ready to go at moments notice
choose carefully and make sure you have enough for at least 72 hrs and most have a shelf life of 5 years and if you conserved your supply would last longer than
