Hardee's Monster Thickburger: The Most Monstrous Burger in All the Land!
If you love fast food burgers as much as I do, then you must be familiar with Hardee's - the best of all the fast food chains and by far the unhealthiest. Hardee's is effectively the same company as Carl's Jr.- just one operates on the east coast (Hardee's) and the other on the west coast. What makes Hardee's special is that their burgers (termed Thickburgers) are made of angus beef and are placed between buttered, toasted buns. Seriously - the only way to improve upon fast food burgers - and to make them unhealthier - is to butter and pan-fry the buns. What a chain! But in all seriousness, the Monster Thickburger is a splendid burger - the best fastfood gorging you will ever do. And I don't just say that because its 1410 calories and 107 grams of fat - read my BK Eggnormous guide to see that meat and fat don't make the sandwich!
Called "audacity on a bun", the Monster Thickburger is truly delicious and was cited as raising revenue and profits for Hardees in 2005. Its two monster angus beef burgers, plenty of cheese, more bacon, mayonnaise and the works on a buttered bun. While I complained that the almost-as-fatty Eggnormous sandwich was too much and too nasty, the Monster Thickburger is plain old delicious. Treat yourself - and your heart - to one now!

About Hardee's
Founder Wilbur Hardee opened his first restaurant in Greenville, North Carolina, in 1960. The Hardee's chain grew by franchising and by acquiring other restaurant chains. They purchased Sandy's in 1972, Burger Chef in 1982, and Roy Rogers in 1990 - giving Hardee's a large east-coast presence and over 2,000 restaurants.
Hardee's was owned by Imasco Limited from 1981 through 1997. While its popular breakfast menu -- featuring "made from scratch" biscuits that were the Hardee's staple during the 1980s and 1990s. The popular west coast-based Carl's Jr. acquired the company in 1997 - giving them a strong east-coast presence. Over time, the Hardee's restaurants were converted to serve the much higher-quality burgers of Carl's Jr and also branded themselves with the Carl's Jr. logo - the yellow and red star.
Though Hardee's had not been well received publicly, things turned around with the introduction of the highly promoted "Thickburger" in 2003. The Thickburger is made from high-quality Angus beef and instantly, behind adults seeking large meals, Hardee's revenue began to increase. Thickburgers are sold in sizes up to 2/3 lbs of beef. The item was so popular that Carl's Jr. introduced the Thickburger to their menu (retitled the "Six-Dollar Burger" - a play that the burger is so good - you would pay $6.00 for it at a diner restaurant), along with some of Hardee's popular breakfast items. In November 2004, Hardee's introduced the Monster Thickburger; containing 1,420 calories and 107 fat grams. The Monster Thickburger is the largest hamburger on any American fast food menu.
The official name of the Carl's Jr/Hardee's parent company is CKE Restaurants. As of April 1, 2005, Hardee's has 1,894 restaurants in 31 states.
