Be Smart and Be Safe !!
A few costume guidelines:
-
Make sure all strings, tails, etc. are not dragging the ground -- little ones will trip and we don't want that to happen -- we want fun!!
-
Have reflective striping , carry a flashlight or light stick so everyone is visible after dark!
-
Have the child in proper fitting shoes -- avoid a tripping hazard !!
-
If wearing a mask, make sure it fits well, offers proper ventilation, and they are able to see -- properly!
-
When using face paint -- make sure it is safe -- make sure it has been properly tested, etc.
-
Secure hats and scarves so they won't slip down over your child's eyes.
-
Avoid anything with sharp edges by making sure it is made of soft materials.
-
costumes should be weather appropriate.
-
A festive costume bunting makes a cute, comfy, fuss-proof costume. You have to make sure baby doesn't over heat though !!
-
Make sure the child's costume is flame resistant -- a lot of people have flames at their doorways!
-
Trick or treating isn't what it used to be. It's not as safe to let kids walk the streets alone. Send a responsible adult or older teenager with them.
