Tried everything but still fighting adult acne? Use the best products like Chi and Bare Escentuals but wake up with cysts on your delicate face? Maybe it's Mica. I don't know what my reaction to Bare Escentuals would be because I've never tried it. That's because it contains Mica. I did try a wonderful mineral make-up from an organic cosmetics boutique that made my skin look flawless....at least at first. It was a powder type foundation that would be applied with a makeup brush and it evened out my skin tone and didn't look like I was wearing makeup at all. Then after a couple of weeks I had the worst breakout I've ever had in my 29 years of life (teenage acne didn't even compare) and I could not get rid of these welts on my face for 4 months. I had to stop wearing foundation or powder altogether in order to heal and reduce the scarring. I had a similar yet less severe reaction when I tried Zia brand face powder a couple of years ago. Another mineral makeup. Yet every other Zia product I've tried is marvelous. I narrowed down the similar ingredients between the 2 brands and I believe I found the culprit to be Mica. Eliminating this ingredient worked well but I wasn't completely blemish free.
My husband suggested that it was my hair products causing my acne, but I thought that was foolish. He suggested it more than once so I started looking at the ingredients in my hair products. It turns out that the Chi serum that I loved so much also contained Mica. So I stopped using it for a while and, Wah-La,  my skin cleared up. Needless to say, the Chi hit the road via the trash receptacle.
Now I wear make-up less often (and I don't need it as much since my skin cleared up) and I never wear makeup with Mica. I found a few products to be helpful in healing severe blemishes, so I thought I'd share them too. Zia's Fresh Papaya Enzyme Peel is meant to be an exfoliant but does wonders for acne. You can even leave it on overnight as a spot treatment for severe cases. Buy the sample size (about $5) because a little goes a long way and the ingredients are so fresh that a full container may spoil before you have time to finish it. Believe it or not, Oil of Olay makes a good face mask (I was shocked because I've never had much luck with drugstore brands, including this one). It's a standard clay mask called Daily Facials Intensive Clay Mask. Tingles a little when it goes on and helps clear skin almost immediately. Alternate between this and the Zia. There's another Zia product simply called Acne treatment Mask which has sulfur as the active ingredient. Works well at first but then it's as if your skin becomes immune to it. It's better to use as a spot treatment when you really need it. (And it burns a little at first). As far as face wash, any Alba Botanica cleansing gel works well.
As far as moisturizers go, the jury's still out and I hope to find a good one before it's too late.
I hope if you've read this far that some of this info may be useful to you.
