I was looking for a new dedicated photo printer and had read about HP's new Vivera Ink system. This allows for six ink colors instead of the usual four. It also allows you to change only the individual ink colors that tend to run out quickest. Individual cartridges cost about $9 each. The quality of prints far surpasses the quality of my previous HP 1350 (4 color) One drawback so far has been the lack of inventory of cartridges at my local Staples when I have needed to replace colors.
The printer has two paper trays, one for 4 X 6 paper and one for up to 8 1/2 X 11. This eliminates having to change out the paper in the trays every time you want to change print sizes.
