HOW TO SELL ON EBAY; TIPS AND ADVICE FROM EBAY SELLER

HELLO, AND WELCOME TO MY GUIDE. I HAVE BEEN SELLING ON EBAY FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS AND I HAVE LEARNED A LOT ALONG THE WAY. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND OF COURSE HAVE LEARNED BY TRIAL AND ERROR AS WELL. I HOPE THIS GUIDE IS USEFUL TO THOSE WHO ARE NEW AT SELLING, AND MAYBE A FEW TIPS MAY HELP THOSE WHO ARE TRYING TO BOOST THEIR SALES.

I HAVE FOUND THAT THE BEST THING TO DO WITH SELLING IS START WITH SOMETHING YOU AT LEAST KNOW A LITTLE BIT ABOUT. IF YOU HAVE THIS ITEM IN QUANTITY ALL THE BETTER. I HAVE LEARNED THAT IF YOU HAVE ONE PARTICULAR THING TO SELL, AND CAN PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE ON THE ITEM, AND HAVE THE ABILITY TO SELL MANY OF THEM, YOU WILL HAVE SUCCESSFUL SALES. IF YOU ARE CRAFTY OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS, YOU CAN CREATE MANY ITEMS OF THE SAME DESCRIPTION AND BEGIN YOUR SALES THERE.EVEN IF YOU ARENT THE CRAFTY TYPE, MAYBE YOU WOULD WANT TO SELL CRAFT SUPPLIES WHICH CAN BE FOUND NUMEROUS PLACES INEXPENSIVELY OR EVEN IN BULK.

RARE ITEMS- ANOTHER GOOD SELLER FOR EBAY  GARAGE SALES, THRIFT STORES, ESTATE SALES ETC....THESE ARE GREAT TO FIND OLD VINTAGE ITEMS THAT ARE HARD TO FIND. I WOULD SUGGEST DOING RESEARCH ON VINTAGE ITEMS TO PROVIDE AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE TO POTENTIAL BUYERS. 2 EXAMPLES OF THIS I CAN SHARE ARE 1. I RECEIVED AN OLD SINGER SEWING MACHINE  CIRCA 1957 FROM A NEIGHBORS ESTATE. KNOWING NOTHING ABOUT SEWING I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE TO PROVIDE MANUFACTURING DATES ETC. WELL I RECEIVED THE ITEM FREE SOLD IT ON EBAY FOR $275! NOT BAD AT ALL!  A FRIEND OF MINE BOUGHT AN ANTIQUE PHONOGRAPH AT A GARAGE SALE FOR $2.00  DID THE RESEARCH, LISTED IT AND SOLD IT ON EBAY FOR $1000! SO, IF YOU GO TO YARD SALES, FLEA MARKETS THRIFT STORES ETC, KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FOR OLD AND RARE ITEMS, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT MAY BE A BIG HIT!

LISTING TIPS- YOU WANT TO BE AS DESCRIPTIVE AS POSSIBLE ON YOUR ITEM. PROVIDE AS MUCH KNOWLEDGE AS YOU CAN AND HAVE A NICE CLEAR PICTURE OF IT. PEOPLE WANT TO SEE WHAT THEY ARE BUYING. STARTING PRICE- THIS IS TRICKY. IF YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO HAVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT FOR THE ITEM MAYBE A RESERVE AUCTION WOULD WORK BEST FOR YOU. I HAVE LEARNED THAT IF YOUR STARTING PRICE IS LOW ENOUGH, MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, THE BIDS WILL COME IN. IF YOU HAVE MANY OF THE SAME ITEM  DUTCH AUCTIONS ARE GREAT! THEY BRING IN THE POTENTIAL OF A HIGHER PRICE FOR EACH ITEM SOLD!

CUSTOMER SERVICE- VERY IMPORTANT! YOU WANT YOUR CUSTOMERS HAPPY. 1. THEY CAN BE A GREAT SOURCE FOR REPEAT BUSINESS AND 2. PROTECT YOUR FEEDBACK! I HAVE ALWAYS INSTILLED EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE TO MY CUSTOMERS FOR BOTH OF THESE REASONS AND IT HAS WORKED OUT WELL FOR ME. IF I HAVE A CUSTOMER WHO IS NOT SATISFIED OR UPSET, I WILL DO ANYTHING IN MY POWER TO APPEASE THEM. WHETHER IT BE A REFUND, SEND OUT A NEW ITEM OR WHATEVER. EVEN IF IT DOES TAKE A COUPLE DOLLARS OUT OF MY POCKET, MY FEEDBACK AND GOOD REPUTATION WITH CUSTOMERS IS PRICELESS.

THE LAST BIT OF ADVICE I CAN GIVE TO SOMEONE WANTING TO DO EBAY SALES AS A SOURCE OF INCOME IS THE 3  P'S---PATIENCE, PERSEVERANCE AND PERSISTANCE. YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT BECAUSE NOTHING HAPPENS OVERNIGHT. BUT IF YOU KEEP AT IT AND KEEP WORKING HARD AT IT, YOU WILL SOON BEGIN TO SEE BIDDERS AND BUYERS COMING IN. DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED IF YOU HIT A SLUMP IN SALES, THERE COULD BE MANY REASONS FOR THIS....REVIEW YOUR LISTING- IS IT INFORMATIVE? IS THE STARTING PRICE TOO HIGH? ARE THERE ANY OTHER ITEMS ON EBAY LIKE IT SELLING?- TRY TO ANALYZE WHAT IS CAUSING THE SLUMP AND TRY TO REVISE THE LISTING TO CHANGE IT. BE PERSISTANT AND RELIST IF YOU HAVE TO. IF YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE THIS WORK, YOU HAVE TO BE PREPARED TO DO THE WORK, DO THE RESEARCH AND HAVE THE TIME TO DEVOTE TO IT. AS YOU CONTINUE TO WORK AT IT, AND YOU LEARN MORE BY DOING IT, YOU WILL SEE AS TIME GOES BY YOU WILL BE HAVING SOME SUCCESS AT YOUR SALES ON EBAY.

WHEN I FIRST STARTED THIS 4 YEARS AGO, I WASNT SURE EXACTLY WHAT I WAS DOING BUT AFTER MY FIRST COUPLE OF SALES I GOT EDUCATED. I DID ALOT OF RESEARCH-EBAY MESSAGE BOARDS ARE A GREAT SOURCE OF INFO! AND I LEARNED AS MUCH AS I COULD ABOUT SELLING ON EBAY. NOW, I HAVE AUCTIONS DAILY AND HAVING A DECENT AMOUNT OF SUCCESS ON MY SALES.

I AM NOT AN EXPERT, BUT I CERTAINLY HAVE LEARNED MANY THINGS ALONG THE WAY AND I AM SHARING A FEW TIPS THAT HAVE WORKED FOR ME.
