Pro mounts Canada wants to thank everyone who has inquired about an installation guide for the mounts. Due a high number of customers asking for a guide we have put together an EASY guide for installing a wall mount in a safe and quick way.  Our customer representative NICK with more than 6 years of experience in installations will try to explain how to mount your TV the easiest safest quickest way possible.

Install your tv on a dry wall with wood studs 16 or 24 inches apart.

Tools you need : Drill, level, stud finder, measuring tape, all the screws and bolts come with wall mounts you purchase from us, so you do not need to get anything else!

Put the stud finder on the wall and locate the studs( horizontally).  Stud finder will beep once it gets to the stud and keep beeping until it reaches the end of the stud, most studs are 2 inches wide. After that, mark the left and right of the stud you found since you are going to put the bolts onto the center of the stud.

After locating 2 studs which are usually 16 inches apart put the wall plate of the wall mount on the wall. Standard distance from bottom of the wall mount to the floor by consumer guide is recommended to be 45 to 55 inches from the floor (for the best viewing angle). You can put it where ever you like, height wise i mean .

Most wall mount plates are 8 to 10 inches in height and they come with hole pattern on top and bottom of the wall plate. Since you have two studs you have to make two holes on top and two holes at the bottom, match the best hole on the wall plate with two studs that you have found. Mark those holes and then take the wall plate off the wall. Now you know where you are making holes and where you are putting the bolts.

I personally use a small drill bit, with a hammer I start making holes from left and right of the the stud that i found to make sure that i know where the center of the stud is. Sometimes stud finders are not very accurate, this way you will eliminate any mistake of putting the TV on the edge of the stud.

After finding the center of the stud, pick up the wall plate and put  it back on the wall and mark one more time the two holes on top and two holes at the bottom, since the studs are vertical, then the top holes will be the same as bottom holes on the wall plate.

Make sure the wall plate is levelled, have the level on top of the wall plate at all times! In most cases you do not really need to make any holes with drill you can use your drill as a driver with the right head adaptor for the bolts, and then just screw the bolts into the stud.

Again all the mounts come with vertical plate, next step is to put the vertical plates at the back of your TV. You only need four screws to put those vertical plates at the back of your TV. The rest of the screws that are in the box are useless since they are for different brands and different models. All you need is four screws that match your TV’s mounting holes. After that you just pick up the TV and put it on the wall plate.

You are done !

Problems ?

The only thing that you might notice is that your TV is not leveled. There might be two issues, one- you did not put the wall plate on the wall leveled, that will acquire  you to unscrew the bolts, level the wall plate and screw them back.

If you did that and the TV is still not leveled then you have to repeat the process, as I said make sure you have the level on top of the wall plate at all time to prevent this pain at the end.

Second thing is you might want to check the vertical plates at the back of your TV and make sure they are equal distanced  from top and bottom of the TV.

Putting the tv on the dry wall with aluminum studs. (Mostly used for condos)

Do all the steps as for dry wall with wood studs, but make sure you find the center of the stud manually.

Make holes in the aluminum studs and use aluminum stud anchors, also called butterfly anchors or toggle bolts. You have to buy these from hardware shop, home depot etc.

I do not recommend you to put your TV with butterfly anchors if it weights more than 100 lb!

The rest of the steps are exactly the same as above with dry wall wood studs.

I personally buy the toggle bolts size 3/16 * 3, and I use ½ inch drill bit for aluminum studs.

Put your TV on the cement or concrete wall

This is the easiest installation.

Put the wall plate wherever you like, go over the first installation on this page to see our advise of where to put the wall plate. Use a hammer drill to make four holes 3 - 4 inches deep.  I usually use 3/16 drill bit. Then use concrete bolts, they sell them in hardware store and they are usually blue.

After making the holes with hammer drill, then use your regular drill as driver with the proper adapter head for the concrete bolts, put the concrete bolts on the hole and with the drill ( as a driver) screw them onto the concrete wall.

And you are done!
