PLEASE IF YOU FIND THIS GUIDE HELPFUL VOTE AT THE BOTTOM TO LET OTHERS KNOW...THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO STOP BY AND READ WHAT I HAVE WRITTEN...IT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Okay, so you've finally decided you're going to buy a tarot deck, but wondering what kind to buy?  What better time to buy a deck then at this time in history...the choice of tarot decks with today's "worldwide internet access" is practically unlimited...never before has it been so easy to have so much choice when it comes to choosing, and purchasing a tarot deck.

There are decks for beginners (some with keywords, some without...to help get you started with some basic meanings)...there are artistic decks, Marseilles-style decks, animal-themed decks, culturally-themed decks, religious-themed decks, Rider-Waite decks (this is probably the most popular and widely used deck in tarot)...there are angelic decks, cartoonish decks, and the list goes on and on.  There really is a deck for every person, and every taste.  Some decks are based on mythological themes, while others are based on philosophical, or spiritual themes.

Most people who buy tarot decks buy them for doing readings for themselves, or others.  Others prefer to buy unique, rare, hard-to-find, out-of-print, limited edition, self-published, and vintage decks specifically for collectible purposes! Whatever your reason...chances are you can always find something you like...or if you are like most people with an interest in tarot, before you know it...your tarot collection will be multiplying like rabbits without much effort!.

I would say the most important thing you would want in a deck is having it be visually appealing to your tastes.  Hopefully, the deck will "speak" to you in some way, and possibly even stimulate your imagination.  The best way to buy a deck is to be able to get an idea of how the cards in the deck look before you buy them.  This is not always possible...but I try to go out of my way to get a variety of pictures of the decks I am selling so my customers will know what they are getting...because when I myself am looking to buy...the first thing I do is look at the pictures...are they beautiful, are they unique, is there something about them that catches my eye?  You need to ask yourself do I like the images?  The colors?  The style of the deck?  If you don't...chances are you won't want to use the deck.  Some decks are all fully-illustrated with pictures on each card in the deck, some are not...when one's starting out having a deck of fully illustrated major and minor arcana cards makes the readings a lot easier to interpret.

If possible, but sometimes it's not...the deck should be sealed...most of the mass produced decks are...sometimes the self-published ones aren't...which isn't a bad thing...it's just the way they come....and this really isn't a problem anyway.  You can always "smudge" (cleanse) the energy of the cards with sage (I carry this, too, in my ebay store).  Cleansing helps remove negative energy (especially if you buy a pre-owned deck...the deck may not necessarily have negative energy...the cards might just be filled with the previous owner(s) energy vibrations...you want the deck to be filled with your energy, not someone else's.  Saging, crystals, and various other methods are helpful for cleansing and protecting a tarot deck's energy.  Sometimes a deck is so rare, or hard-to-find, it isn't possible to purchase it new.

By carefully choosing the deck you want to buy...this will help to develop your psychic, and intuitive abilities, and allow your energy to permeate your tarot deck.  When not using your deck (cards) many people find it helpful to wrap them in silk, and or put them in a wooden box, both of these activities are believed to protect the cards, and keep your energy in them, and other negative energy out of them.  If you feel the cards might need to be cleansed of negative energy, two methods that can be used are smudging them with sage, or by selecting appropriate crystals, or gemstones to protect your cards from absorbing negative energy.  Another method some people use cleanse their decks is to place the deck out in full view of the Moon (I personally have not done this, but have heard of others who do use this method).  Hold the cards, study the cards, really get to know them.  Use a journal to make notes about the cards, and what they mean to you...the more you handle them, the more you'll feel in touch with them.

Each deck has its own unique design, history and feel to it.  Sometimes the images in the decks can vary quite a bit, but once you start studying and becoming familiar with them...you will become more comfortable in being in touch with the specific meanings of each of the cards.

Tarot cards use symbols and archetypes.  Start out your studies by maybe studying what the you think the images represent, then do some readings and see what others feel about the same card.  Start journaling to see if you can see patterns in your own readings, or readings for others.  Familiarize yourself with the more common and easily detectable symbols, and then proceed to study and understand the unique symbolism that each deck has.

Beginners might be better served by starting with decks such as the "Quick and Easy" tarot deck,  the Marseilles style  "Starter Tarot" deck, the "Tarot for Dummies"  set,  Zolar's, Barbara Walker's, or other decks that have some keywords on the actual cards.  I have all these decks available in my ebay store, and if they aren't there, I can probably get them for you...just ask me!  Still not sure what one to get?  Maybe I can make a suggestion, just e-mail me and I will do my best to help you get started.

There are many books, websites and classes you can take to become more familiarized with the tarot cards and how to use them once you have purchased a deck.  I would be more than happy to suggest some of them to you..just ask me...

Thanks for reading my review, I hope it has been of help to you in choosing your first tarot deck...please check out my large inventory of tarot decks, and other related card decks, such as oracles, rune cards, I Ching cards, fortune-telling cards, and self-help decks.  I also specialize in rare, hard-to-find, out-of-print, and limited edition decks.  I am always adding new items on a regular basis.  Don't see what you want, ask me...I will do my best to get it for you, and yes, I will combine shipping on multiple items.
