There's just something about Pearls....

If diamonds are a girls' best friend, then pearls are her next best friend.

Pearls are classic, timeless and so very feminine. I don't know of any female who wouldn't want pearls in her fine jewelry wardrobe.

Because Pearls are an organic gemstone, they are somewhat different from other gemstones & precious metals.  Pearls are softer and more delicate, therefore, they can be more easily cracked, scratched and damaged.  In addition, perfumes, hair spray, natural body oils and perspiration can dull pearls' luster and cloud their brilliance.

For these reasons, Pearls require a little extra special care.  Apply perfume, body lotions & hair spray   * Before *  putting your pearls on.  After wearing, simply wipe your pearls clean with a soft damp cloth to remove any substances.  Wash Pearls periodically with a mild soap and use a soft brush to remove any accumulated build-up.

Because of their delicacy, Pearls should be stored separately- away from other jewelry items. If possible, store them in a velvet satin lined pouch, soft- lined container or jewelry box.

A small bit of extra care will go a long way to insure your Pearls will remain safe & bright for years to come.!

GET YOUR PEARLS RESTRUNG WHEN...............

If you notice any signs of wear on the silk, get them restrung as soon as you notice it. Signs of wear may include fraying or stretching ( which means you can see spaces between the knot and a pearl ) or any darkening where the silk meets the clasp. Dirt will rot right through the silk.  Once a year, if the luster on your pearls seems a little dull, you can put a dot of baby oil on your thrumb and index finger and run that over the strand. Please remember to use * just a dot *.   Do not oil your pearls.
