In December of 2005, HD employees received a 20% OFF coupon. It looked exactly like the one's you see for sale on ebay today, with one exception...they weren't barcoded.
The following year, HD switched over to a credit card like 'coupon' for 20% off. They're much harder to duplicate.
Last year...2007...they did away with the 20% employee discount altogether.
I've been tracking sellers for a couple of years now, and witnessed the metamorphisis from the Home Depot coupon, boldly advertised, to the more recent and clever...20% OFF...Use @ Lowes. One current seller has actually photoshopped a Lowes logo over the original Home Depot logo on the coupon, in his gallery shot. This change is a direct result of ebay's efforts to crack down on reported fraudulent listings.
The bottom line is that barcoded or not, there are NO currently legitimate 20% OFF coupons being offered on this site, for either Lowes or Home Depot. Neither store offers 20% OFF coupons.
Sooner or later, all of these sellers get the inevitable NEG or NEUT from some buyer/s who tried and failed to use one of these coupons at their local Home Improvement store. BELIEVE those negs and neuts.
Some stores will offer a courtesy discount (usually only 10%). Some store employees aren't aware of the fraud, but frankly, the 'new' barcoded coupons are far easier to detect, since the barcode will not scan. I'd hate to be the customer, stuck at the service desk with a high dollar purchase, being told that the coupon I presented for payment is a fraud.
