My name is Franni, I have been in the beauty industry for more than 23 years. I am a licensed Cosmetologist and I have taught Cosmetology and worked for major hair companies as part of their education teams. I love to teach people about hair and help people have beautiful hair. I really know my stuff and look forwward to helping you select hair products that are perfect for your hair.

Hair- Be it thin or thick, course or fine, short or long, colored or virgin hair. There are ways to care for whatever hair you have to keep it healthy, shinny and manageable.

Its a chemical balancing act. When chemicals are added to your hair the chemistry of your hair changes-Your stylists job is to understand the chemistry of your hair so well that he/she can advise you on exactly what to use in your hair to make sure the chemical balance is restored and your hair shines and has a PH balance under or close to 7.

You too can decide what will work best for your specific hair by understanding a few things about hair. PH Balance? Hair that has never been treated with chemicals has a PH(Potential Hydrogen) of about 7. Perms, color, japanese straightening, soft perms they all damage hair by changing the hairs bonds and making hair more alkaline ( higher than 7 on the ph scale) They change the chemistry of your hair!. 1-7 are said to be acidic on the PH scale. This is good. This is what we all aim for....Conditioners, moisturizing shampoos, deep conditioning treatments are all acidic--lower than 7 .......perms, colors etc are all higher than 7 and are alkaline..Actually they are 7 -15 on the ph scale. When your hair is treated with any chemical service it climbs to 7,8,9,10 etc...After the service in order to keep the hair healthy it must be taken back down towards 7-  aka/acidic or neutral on the ph scale...... How do you get it back down? Using acidic products like moisturizing shampoos, conditioners etc will take the hairs ph back down and the hair will shine and be very manageable.

example- Hair is permed-now it has a ph of 12..Your stylist conditiones the hair to take the ph back down towards 7..Any conditioner will take it back down. There is no way to know exact ph value.

Some products even list the ph right on the bottle for you too see. If you do not take the ph back down after a chemical service- the hair may feel brittle and break. The hair will not shine and it will feel rough to the touch. Hair that has too much alkalinity-a ph above 7 is not healthy hair!

If your hair has never been chemicaly treated- You can use hair care prodducts for normal hair, Do not forget that weather, the pool, the ocean can all affect your hair and change the ph..Remember, when it won't shine it needs help!

Professional hair care products really are the best. If you use whats right for your hair your hair will be fabulous!
