Sorry about the title but i want you to read this, It could save you some money in the long run. Scams come in many ways, Sometimes over the phone, in your email, ebay is a big target for those that don't know about scams, or the latest voice over ip (Internet phone services) I will try to enlighten you a little on this matter, For more detailed reading ebay supplies allot check it out.

Every now and then you may see someone leaving you a potential buyer note on one of your products, It would come in something like "I sell cheap electronics please see website http://example.com". The best thing to do with that is do nothing, and if they keep spamming your online auction products Report them.

The first one i will go over is of course the latest, Phone IP service like vontage or SunRocket keep in mind these are good companies, But they wont tell you they could be hacked, I mean everything is hack-able, I haven’t run into much that isn’t.

If you have your phone service running over your internet service take precautions on what your saying and how much information your giving someone on the other end of that phone, Just because the caller ID would say 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx ebay inc. Does not mean that is ebay on the other end of the phone. Do not give out your banking, paypal or any information over the phone of course unless you have called them and even then they shouldn’t have any reason for that info.

Make sure you ask for there name phone extension and tell them you will call them back, Here is a trick ask them for the call back number, like your stupid or something, then do a reverse phone number lookup http://www.reversephonedirectory.com/lookup2.htm and then map it. Then call the real company and let them know your receiving calls that is asking for personal information.

example: You just won our 42in plasma TV all we need is the $199.00 shipping fee's, witch Credit card would you like to put that on today. Yeah right.

The second type is posting inquiries to your listings on ebay, This one is real simple. Turn them in right away, don't even waste your time with this dumb ass. Most come from china overseas looking for you to wire them money to there account. Don't do that NO western Union NO wiring, NO NO. Use an escrow service if you really want to do business overseas. Period... a escrow service will hold the funds until your product arrives, then releases them after you have confirmed delivery.

Then there’s the ebay paypal email look alikes, Looks like its from ebay or paypal but there asking you to update your user name and password, NEVER do this Paypal or ebay will never ask you for this in a email or otherwise. That is a no no..

I hope this helps you if you have any question feel free to ask. Thanks for reading. And as always have a great day.
