           Gymboree shopping at Garage Sales!!

TIPS - How To HAGGLE - What SELLS - PRICING Tips -

Ever wonder where these "Gymbo" stores on eBay get all those great used items?  I used to.... untill I opened my eyes, it was something I did every weekend!!!      GARAGE SALES!!!

I myself have been an avid "Garage Saler" since I was knee high to a grasshopper - LOL.   I never really gave it much thought untill I had a daughter of my own,  I always skipped right by all the sales that had tons of kids clothes piled on tables.  Now I find that those are the only sales I go to!  I get the weekly paper, read thru the "Garage Sales" section and circle - highlight - and plan my route according to time opened and rank of sale (how bad I wanna get there when they first open).  I have the city map handy, the paper, change purse and baby on my hip!  And I am off to spend $ - and make $ too!

TIPS:

READ THE PAPER:     Most people now a days will advertise, in the local press or where I live, there is a local "magazine" that is free to thousands of people in the surrounding area.  It seems like every one places an ad for their Garage Sale in this one paper.   Read the ads and look for keywords like GYMBOREE, NAME BRAND...etc...

GET THERE EARLY:     Any sale that advertises Gymboree in the paper will  have MANY other "Gymboree Mommies"  waiting for them to open.  Some of them are not so nice and are not afraid to elbow you out of a table or even take clothes right out from under you!  I have seen women RUN up to a sale when it opened,  my husband was with for that sale - LOL  .....he will never go again!

GRAB  GRAB  GRAB:      I grab what ever looks like Gymbo, pile it on my arm or stroller until I am finished looking   THEN   I  inspect the clothing for flaws etc...  I don't know how many times I have taken my time inspecting clothing looking for stains while other mommies pile it on and before I knew it I had 3 items - they had 20 and I got to look at their scraps - what they threw back when the were  finished. Never Again!

DON'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE AN OFFER:     If a sale is not busy or if they are nearing the end of a day most sellers will take a "LUMP OFFER" .  You have a few items to purchase, total all the items in your head,  say it's $14, tell them "I have $14 worth here, would you take $10?" OR say "All I have is $10"   MOST people will, they don't want to pack the stuff up again!   You are trying to make $ too, so every $ you save is one more in your pocket!  But be careful not to offend them with a ridiculous low offer like $3, all you will do is make them NOT like you! And then they won't be willing to work with you.

VINTAGE IS A HARD SALE:    Most people selling at Garage Sales don't know Gymbo tags or even care for that matter, and if they did, they would not sell their Gymbo on a garage sale, they would sell it on eBay like the rest of us!  SO, they price it the same as newer Gymbo and if you pay $4 for a vintage Gymbo outfit chances are that you are not going to make a profit at all,  I have taken loses on vintage Gymbo just to get rid of it.   Gymbo over 4 years old, for me, is hard to sell.

BE JUST A BIT CHEAPER:    I will research the item before I list it, see how many other sellers have my item in their store in the same size, condition etc...  I price my item competitively or less that others are asking - depending upon what I paid for it!

KNOW WHERE THE "NICE" HOUSES ARE:      I shop garage sales basicly for Gymboree, Tommy and Gap.  I remember the "nice" neighborhoods and what streets they are.    They usually pay off with a larger selection of name brang clothing for their kids,  because they can afford it I suppose!

Now please remember I am not a professional - LOL  And am only sharing some tips that have helped me clothe my little angel for free - almost!   I hope that you got some useful information from this!     Thanks for your time and don't forget to vote!!!!
