Hello, my name is Steve and we are a small business printing repair company located in Hayward,Ca I write a small column on Craig's list that catches a lot of interesting fact what and why printing devices from Facsimile, Laser Jet,Inkjet and copier jamming.
Yes the paper has a lot to do with it ,but Techs fail to inform their customers about the storage of paper. Paper acts like a "wick" it can draw in moisture, thus the paper once contaminated need to dry out in an area where temperature change is not so drastic warm/hot to very cool.
You can tell if your paper is effected just by looking at the finished product. If you are able to get a document to pass thru the printing process, take a close look at the paper. When it leaves the machine the first end out should not curl. It should exit smooth from left to right, and not try to fold itself. Or if the leading edge is wavy coming out of the printer. This is a sure sign that you do not want to do a print job from that ream of paper.
The key to have less failures is to keep your printer clean. Paper dust/chad will coat the rollers and other sensitive areas. Make it a rule to check inside of the printer when replacing a toner cartridge. The use of the "canned air" should only be done by someone who knows how to use it. Wiping off the rollers are outlined in the user's manual(you know the one that is new and never opened just like the operator's manual for your car?). If you still have trouble you can contact me thru ebay at..machinercylr. I am currently working on my website "the new and the improved" And I'll be glad to help you in any way.
