Ok number one, this product looks great for one, but it lacks in several other fields. With my HP Pavilion DV1049CL laptop the colour scheme matches fairly decent, but with other pavilions as well as a few of compaqs laptops fitting it as well the colours do not match and arent at all atractive
The hardware you ask, this department is pretty lame on the part of HP. The XB2000 could have used so many more availible ports than are availible. Most of the availible ports are on the laptop anyways so the only purpose I can think of to use them is to save the ports on your notebook from wear
It includes 3 USB 2.0 (which is nice since most HP and compaq laptops have USB 1.0 or 1.1)
Stereo out
Microphone in
TV out
SPDIF out
3 different power hookups (+one more if you want the optional HDD)
Modem
NIC
and nothing else!
HP seems to be trying to push theyre proprietary PATA 100gb external HDD for this unit however they want over $200 USD for them and they cannot be used anywhere besides in that base( + you need a seperate power supply going to it)
The part that holds the laptop also is a poor design due to its weak hinge to adjust angle so dont fidget!
In Summery the HP XB2000 was a wash, the design was too poor for the price (retail 299 w/100gb HDD) but it looks kind of like a next gen Apple machine when the laptop is in it !
the wireless keyboard and mouse kind of equal it out a little
