The Daisy Company started out as the Plymouth Iron Windmill Company around 1882.
You might think Daisy was the first Airgun Company to produce the Toy air gun, well they weren't. It was "Chicago" marketed by the Markham Company. Which was later was bought out by Daisy.
Then a local Plymouth Michigan Inventor showed his invention of the first airgun to Lewis Cass Hough (manager of the company). So the new airgun could be offered to farmers for free when they purchased a new Windmill. But it so happened the Farmers wanted the Airgun more than they wanted the Windmill. Then in 1889 the company decided to make the airgun it's principle line of business and stop making the windmills. In 1895 the Plymouth Windmill Company changed its name to Daisy.
Well to get back to the collecting of Daisy items, If it is marked Made in Plymouth it was made on or before 1958. Daisy moved their company to Rogers Arkansas and started producing airguns in July of 1958.
Daisy produced or sold several thousand different items and toys over the years with the Daisy name. So you need to decide if you are going to collect all items with the Daisy name. If so you will end up with a very extensive collection.
