1. Do your research!  You don't want to buy something that is totally useless to you.  It might have a lot of bells and whistles but not the ones you really need for your production.

2. Go to a music store and try it out before you buy if possible.

3. Go to manufacturer forums and see what others think about it.

4. Ask the seller for condition, and age of the equipment.

5. Find out if it was used frequently or abused.

6. Ask for extra pictures if possible.

7. Electronic depreciates in most cases so do your homework to avoid overpaying for the equipment.

8. Make sure you have some type of quarantee from the seller for electronic musical equipment. There are some many features on these devices it will take a while for you to try them all out.  It might be too late if you find something that is not working like it should because of defects or abuse.
