Guide to Measuring and Easy Conversions
Got a great recipe, but don't have the right measuring cup?
Use this easy conversion guide to get your measurements correct every time (even without those handy measuring cups).
Dry
3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon
4 tablespoons = 1/4 cup
5 1/3 tablespoons = 1/3 cup
8 tablespoons = 1/2 cup
10 2/3 tablespoons = 2/3 cup
12 tablespoons = 3/4 cup
16 tablespoons = 1 cup
Liguids
1 tablespoon = 1/2 fluid ounce
1 cup = 1/2 pint = 8 fluid ounces
2 cups = 1 pint = 16 fluid ounces
4 cups = 2 pints = 1 quart = 32 fluid ounces
16 cups = 4 quarts = 1 gallon = 128 fluid ounces
It may take a little longer to cook using these alternate measurements, but you'll get the right amounts every time. No having to second guess yourself.
