Henna is used widely in many countries as the traditional body art especially in countries like India, Africa and the Arabian countries. It is available in the markets in the form of a powder which is obtained by grinding henna leaves taken from the henna plant (also known as Hawsonia Inermis). It is a brownish green color powder. A paste is made out of this powder by mixing it with water (coffee or tea water is used to enhance its color) in the right quantities and then the paste is filled in cones made out of fine plastic sheets A small hole is cut at the end of the cone to allow the henna to flow out in required quantities.
It can then be applied to just about any part of the body in order to create beautiful designs. You wont have to be too picky about the design since henna is temporary, and it will not last for more than one or two weeks. Using various techniques can enhance its color, for instance, if you have applied it on the palm, after it dries out you can add lime and sugar water to it and wait for it to dry again. This can be repeated many times depending on how dark you want the color to be, and how much patience you have.
If you not very good at designing, you can buy henna stencils that are available in the markets in a large range of patterns and pictures for you to choose from or you can use the cone to create your own designs. The most important point that you must keep in mind while using henna is that you must not apply water to the area where you have applied henna since it will lighten the color. After it dries out you can remove it by scrubbing it off.
