This is information for buyers looking to purchase DG sunglasses on eBay
There are many sellers out there offering nice sunglasses and at a great price, especially the very popular DG Eyewear sunglasses. These awesome looking sunglasses are selling like crazy ever since I started selling on eBay back in April of '08. I found out that the majority of the time, buyers are happy with the products that they won. Upon personal research, most sellers that offer sunglasses have a feedback of 98% or better. But some negative feedback that I found has been because the buyer thought the auction was for a pair of "D&G" or "Dolce & Gabanna" sunglasses when in actuality they bid on DG Eyewear sunglasses. Negative feedbacks have been mostly of the buyer stating that they were mislead buy the description. Fact is, DG Eyewear sunglasses are not "D&G" sunglasses (note the "&" missing), nor a knock-off brand. DG Eyewear sunglasses are a copyrighted, independent brand themselves, manufactured in China, offering an array of styles and colors. They are made from high quality materials and have great appeal. They can be found in a range of all prices, from $0.99 to higher amounts depending on the style. DG sunglasses are not be advertised as being part of the D&G company or collection, but they are a great option for the buyer looking for a fashionable pair of designer sunglasses at a great price. If a buyer has not done their research, however, they can easily be mistaken. Our listings describe them as being DG SUNGLASSES, and not a knock-off of D&G, nor do we attempt to confuse buyers.
Recently, eBay has changed the rules on feedback where sellers can no longer leave negative feedback to buyers. Buyers, on the other hand, can leave a negative feedback to the seller. As a seller myself, its is discouraging to see someone leave a negative feedback for "being mislead" when it can be prevented. Most sellers work very hard and put much time into selling their products on eBay. As per personal research, sellers encourage communication and are willing to work something out if the seller is dissatisfied. I also have that same policy.
So here are some personal "guidelines" to the potential buyer of DG sunglasses and any other pair of sunglasses.
1. Please, always read the description fully. I have found out that many buyers don't read the entire description. eBay expresses that everyone should read the description before bidding or buying. Sellers have a commitment to have a full description of the item. shipping, payment and return policy at least. So please read the description prior to bidding.
2. Now, here is where common sense kicks in. Would one really find a pair, for example, of D&G sunglasses for $5.50 with free shipping? Sure, a savvy eBayer can find high end designer brands at a lower price than your local retailer (sometimes). But even if the D&G pair were on sale at a retail store would you find a pair for at that price? Not likely. And honestly, there is a very high chance of your high end designer product found at a "steal price" to be a fake.
3. Buyers, always research before you bid or buy an item. Again read the description, know what you are bidding on. Sellers are not allowed to purposely mislead you. eBay has a very strict VERO program that is always vigilant of infringements. Lets say I have a pair of Chopper inspired sunglasses that I want to sell. On my description, I place something like this: NEW CHOPPER SUNGLASSES ORANGE COUNTY CHOPPERS. First off, this is an infringement on the sellers part, plus the seller is misleading the potential buyer by stating that they are from the Orange County Chopper sunglasses line. When eBay spots this, they terminate all the sellers auctions and block the seller from eBay. No seller wants to get blocked. So please, research the style that you are looking for and compare the auction to see if its a designer inspired or the real deal.
4. Always work with the seller. If you are not satisfied with the product, most sellers offer a resolution whether it be a refund or exchange. If the glasses arrive broken, they will either replace it or have another pair delivered to you. Again, first read their return policy PRIOR to bidding.
5. Before leaving negative feedback at the first sign of a problem, attempt communication with the seller first. I admit that sometimes it is warranted when all avenues have been exhausted and no mutual resolution is reached. Remember, sellers can't leave negative feedback. Always communicate. It's the best way. Again, sellers are out there to offer what they have and to keep their buyers happy and satisfied.
6. If in the end, you still are not certain, it's best to not bid or buy on an auction. It might be safer for you to get those shades at you local retailer.
