I have been working on cars and just about everything else under the sun for more than 40 years now .And one of my hobbes is you name it ,working on cars . The last car I bought new was a 2002 Subaru Forester ,and you can belive me it is the last new car I will ever own.I will go back in time and get a beat to death Triumph Spitfire and Do a complete rebuild first . Not that a Spitfire is a good car, a 1967 Mustang would do or better yet some old car made out of fiberglass Or maybe a old VW rabbit truck . WHY ! We are now bogged down in a vast conspiracy of way over priced unsafe ,fuel hog junk . The first issue is with electric fuel injection .The idea of a computer controlled fuel system has been pond off on the un-washed masses as the saviour of the environment ,it is not and was not and never will be, along with the catalytic converter ,another lie. But what is the reality ,Electronic fuel injection is a Cheapley made ,over priced computer system ,in Hot and Cold ,Wet then Hot and humid then shaken dry , as well as  Salted then Deep frozen in cars and in conditions like that plastic and wires do not last as well as the rest of the plastic junk on the car. The plastic wire ends snap off just trying to hook the dammed things up to another junk computer just to do a not so simple test . Would you take your home desk top or lap top toss dust & dirt on it, shake it real hard for a long time and stick in the Ice box next to the Ice trays for days ,then take it out ,put in the Kitchen oven set at 139 degrees for a few more days.Would you do that ? How long do you think its going to last ? Year after year Car Makers have designed their cars to be more and more unrepairable by the Shade tree or Most Pro mechanics and the Government rubber stamps them and Car magazines hail them as better than last years model every time they make a change. When you take your car to a dealer to get it fixed, because the RED or Yellow light pops on ,Who do you think  the "parts changer" is, thats going to stick you with one part after another ,and you pay for all of the parts untill the dam thing runs again ,a Kid that just finished Post Grad school after a phd from MIT in rocket science ( Vary high IQ to),And has over 40 years working on cars ,motorcycles,trucks and maybe a few years on jets back in Korea or Viet Nam,or Iraq, Forget it .Wake up. Number one. Corporate Dealers fired anyone over 40 years old to save on health care and retirement ,for taking a day off to be at home with a sick kid . I could count talented mechanics that I know on Squid hands  most are cutting some one elses grass now, Newer Cars either run just ok or they may never run right at all "EVER".I have not even touched on the   safety issues of a new built ,computer designed cheap junk car .I would challenge any Corporate NON designer that sets in front of a design computer, now to drive head on into a 1932 Duesenberg with any car on the road today at 50 miles per hr. The idea of a 5 mph bumper came from a old movie where a Ford Model T ran into a brick wall at 5 mph and came out undamaged (paint job had a scratch or two).Thats NO damage at all ! Our wonderful government dropped the 5 mph rule years ago down to 2mph and OKed $1000ends or more in damage on top of that as acceptable. Some Government for the people, Or maybe its a government against the people .Oh should I also tell you . If the Air bags( and they are not air powered they are exploding devices that could be use for larger bombs), goes bang ! To repair that system cost so much ,your over priced Wonder car will be totaled . And then your Insurance Corporation will rip you off King Royal to keep their profits over last years profits even higher.If insurance outfits are going to tack on a sure charge if you are in a accident thats something other than buying insurance .Thats called racketeering or ,loan sharking. This is a trap and the only way to stop it is , Get a box of tools ,buy a old car and fix it in the parking lot and just have the least insurance possible ,or remove the rotten government that lets us get screwed by Insurance outfits and Car Makers . Stop sitting in front of the TV or computer, find some one who likes old cars ,buy him a 6 pack of Bud . Help him a little and maybe you will get him to fix your Spitfire. Stop tossing  money after new junk .But if you must drive new at least Volvo has a past record of building safe to drive cars .So at least look at well built for safety you will not get well built for anything else .And for the last word .A few years ago a friend ,danced out to the local rip off dealer and got a Stupid New High end Car with all the extris .Snow was on the ground . His wife got to drive the New Baby home ,Daddy was in the Chase car .Mom was a race car driver (in her mind). But just one block from the Rip off dealer RacerMom lost it and hit a Telephone Poll *HARD* .The new Baby was Totaled out ,Bags poped ,Racermom's Arm broken from air bag deployment and almost killed by the Bomb Bag fractured neck . All the windows blew out .Racing seat belts would have been better ! Eardrum broken also .The new baby crumpled nice ,REAL NICE just like the computer designed it to do Bomb bags blew nice also ALL OF THEM . Racer went to ER and stayed longer than if she would have if she would have crashed at the big one way ovel track and babys Dad was fighting with Insurance adjusters for a long time with back up lawyers ,seems they only wanted to pay for 3/4es of a new replacement car and none of the ER bills ,that was his work insurance co. job ,and they did not want to pay for the crash either .Now that baby was quite used thats why the insuranc only wanted to pay for 3/4 of the value,Take it or leave it You drive it off the lot you are going to loose !"Quote the adjuster Never More .The Lawyer did OK ! I hope you were entertained "and if you like this vote yes and if not vote no And if you do Sucker into a new money burning car put a Saint Christopher on the dash ,it might help You will need all you can get !Its a tough world out their on the streets . And New might not be better . Also if you don't jump at all of the stupid deals and hold off ,Good electric or fuel cell cars ,or Flex fuel cars, might not be to far off .I think we will either go broke on Oil fueled cars and related ripoffs or better Cars will be coming real soon . Heck a 1959 a Fiat Abarth could Beat a Corvett at a road race and get 56 miles per Gal at the same time and it did not have a rubber band timing belt to replace every 70 miles costing $500 to install ,Why can't we buy cars today that will do that good ? Did I Hear The Word Conspiracy ! Maybe !
