Guide To Honda Prelude
The Honda Prelude was manufactured between 1978 and 2001. In its time, it was considered by many automotive experts as an ideal coupe for those looking for a balance of sportiness, technology and comfort. It was frequently compared with the the Toyota Celica, and competed with the Mazda MX6 and the Nissan Silvia.
The Prelude was a critics' favorite from beginning to end. It made Car and Driver's Ten Best List no less than ten times. In leading consumer publication road tests, it handily beat the Mazda MX6, the Mitsubishi Eclipse, and the Nissan 240SX. It won top honors as Edmunds Editors' Sport Coupe of the Year in both 1999 and 2000. J.D. Power and Associates gave it five out of five stars for style, body and interior dependability, feature and accessory quality, and mechanical reliability.
The Honda Prelude wasn't simply popular with professional automotive writers, however. Consumers also flocked to the model. Consumer ratings tend to give around 9.5 out of 10 for all Preludes.
One term frequently used to describe the Honda Prelude is "elegant." Interiors are understated, while the exterior body is praised for its good looks. The engine receives accolades for its strength. Parts, fortunately, remain highly available. One can find many Owner's Associations, fan sites and blogs dedicated to singing the praises of this extremely popular car.
