"Opening Day Disneyland Souvenir from Walt Disney World!" Auctions like these are confusing to Disney collectors because Disneyland and Walt Disney World are in two different states. Here's a quick guide to help you accurately describe the theme park souvenir you're selling on Ebay.

DISNEYLAND RESORT - This is the broad name for the 2 theme parks in Anaheim, California. They are: DISNEYLAND (opened in 1955). It was the first park and the only one to open while Walt Disney was alive; CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE (opened in 2001).

WALT DISNEY WORLD - This is the broad name for the 4 theme parks in Orlando Florida. They are: MAGIC KINGDOM (opened in 1971); EPCOT (opened in 1982); DISNEY/MGM STUDIOS (opened in 1989); ANIMAL KINGDOM (opened in 1998).

TOKYO DISNEYLAND - This is the theme park in Tokyo, Japan. It opened in 1983.
TOKYO DISNEY SEAS - This is a theme park in Tokyo, Japan. It opened in 2001.

HONG KONG DISNEYLAND - This is a theme park in Hong Kong. It opened in 2005.

NOTE 1: Disneyana (term for all Disney collectibles) was manufactured as early as the 1920's. Unfortunately, the term Disneyland was used by Disney even before he built Disneyland, the first Disney theme park, in California. So there are some items marked Disneyland that are pre-1955. That can make things a little confusing!

NOTE 2: In the Disney Ebay category, items prior to 1968 are considered vintage. Therefore, only Disneyland items can be either Vintage or Contemporary. The other theme park items are all Contemporary since those parks were built after 1968. Unfortunately, few park souvenirs are imprinted with their date of manufacture.
