I have two adorable Shih Tzu, Ziggy and Nemo. Grooming is very important when you have a Shih Tzu. They have an undercoat and you must keep them brushed out daily to avoid matting. I use a Chris Christensen brush and comb and always use grooming spray. I like the essential oil sprays and shampoos, all natural and so good for their coat. I also take the extra time to clean their faces well by using a rinseless shampoo and brush out their moustaches with a flea comb. I use regular saline solution to clean out their eyes and a vinegar and water solution (2 parts vinegar to 1 part water) to clean their ears. Their pads get wiped off also and I use pad balm once a week to keep their pads soft. Pay close attention to make sure no mats form in their pads, this can be very painful. I also brush their teeth every few days with a specially formulated dog toothbrush.
